| #1jakfleetJan 08, 2009 13:51:48 | It may sound a bit simple to extreme FR fans, but i'm just a avid novel reader, and there has been a large jump from all the realms books i'm used to reading and books such as plauge of spells and the ed greenwood presents waterdeep series, now could some explain in details the events that led to mystra being assasinated by Mask/Shar and also i've noticed when looking through wikipedia various gods such as Lathander, Bane, Mask and Shar along with numerous other deities are listed as being deceased, is this some fault with Wikipedia or is it true and if it is true could someone in the name of the tricksters hairy toes explain it to me!!!![]() |
| #2the_shamanJan 08, 2009 14:00:16 | Welcome to the club... there's a lot of stuff being written on this boards over this, and I'm not very sure about some of it myself, but here's how it is afaik (everyone is welcome to correct me): - First and foremost, the setting was moved some 100 years in the future, so all the current events from FRCS/PGtF are a century and something old. - Mystra has supposedly been "killed" by Shar and Cyric working together. Don't ask me how. This caused the Weave to go haywire for a while, resulting in something called the Spellplague. Again, don't ask. - Lathander has evolved/morphed into Amauntor, an older sun god you might remember from Baldur's Gate II . - Bane, to the best of my knowledge, is alive and kicking. - Mask I'm not sure about... he's missing, supposedly for good. Then again, with Mask, you never know. - Shar has supposedly retreated somewhat, but she's still quite active through her agents. In fact, what with the Shades being so powerful and the general destruction due to the Spellplague, I'd say her minions are more than ever. |

Azuth and Savras bought it when Mystra died, however that might have happened, though the exact circumstances aren't really know outside of a vague and somewhat unreliable vision from a novel (one of the Empyrean Odessy ones I think) that was not meant to be taken literally according to the author. Cyric was imprisoned supposedly... A lot of this stuff can be found in the last few pages of The Grand History of the Realms, or in the pages of the new FRCG for stuff after the cut-off date for TGHotR, or so I'm told anyway... don't have it, so I couldn't say with much certainty. |
| #4lawlessJan 08, 2009 17:13:37 | Mask was absorbed into Shar, he evidently was Shar's son, he's gone it's happened it's real, sorry, really. Mystra was brained by Cyric with Azuth staff, in Dweomerheart, thusly pseudo-science/magic, magic goes haywire. Azuth gets flung out into Atral sea only to get reeled in by Asmodeus who kills him to get his divine power. So now Assy a god now. Lathander and Gruumsh are both evolved, evidently Gruumsh has been Talos all along. Bane is the same. Eilistraee is dead, maybe along with all the other drow gods except for Lloth. Same with the half the dueragar pantheon.. Cyric has been punished and sent to room indefinitely, and Helm is dead also, perished, killed by his best bud, Lefty god of Justice. That all I remeber so far. |
