How high is the highest peak of the nether mountains? How low is the lowest peak of the nether mountains? Specifically the heroes will try to reach the “ladypeak” and explore the ruins of the “lady`s hand” monastery. Where can I find more information about them? All I have so far is that it’s a loviatar monastery, attacked by a blue dragon Idrizraele for its magic and later destroyed by her sons. Ps: I don’t know if it makes a difference but the campaign is before the spellplage around 1371-1372 |

Excellent choice on pre-Spellplague, btw. Nether Mountains are most detailed in the 3E supplement Silver Marches, pages 11-12. Ladypeak is described on pages 12-13 of the same supplement. Unfortunately though, there isn't a lot of detailed information such as peak heights, etc. That said, Ladypeak isn't the highest peak in the Nether range, but it is high enough that winter snow could force the cultists to relocate. There are some really nice tables for traversing the mountains (generally) and specific random encounters in the Nethers. Those mountains are chock full of dangerous beasts, including dragons of various size/age of the Morueme clan of blues. They're served by a hobgoblin clan called the Red Flayers. Orcs of the "Ripped Gut" and "Thousand Fists" tribes also periodically fight against each other in the range, though they drop clan rivalries whenever non-orcs pose a threat. It also hints at possible lost Netherese outposts or portals within the range that no one has seen in millenia. Under the fortified monastery (in the western part of the range), there's supposed to be a network of tunnels, perhaps Netherese in origin. Starting at 90 in number, they were attacked by one of the blue dragons and a group of hobgoblins, but their own magic and some old Netherese magic helped them repel the attack. The main buildings on the surface were razed, and several new caverns were opened during the dragon attack, and the 40 Loviatar survivors remain. At least one of the Netherese magic weapons was helpful in "blasting the dragon" to bits. Sorry there isn't more than that really. At least so far as I know. |

I just checked this, and there is a tiny entry on the Nether mountains. The only additional information beyond Silver Marches is that the Loviatans have access to several Netherese magical tomes and that there are gem deposits in deep mines that are guarded by pech. Interesting place! Would love to know more about those Netherese magical tomes. |
