Please forgive me for a question that has no doubt been asked more than once (though my search of the forum didn't find anything) I am currently playing through Neverwinter Nights 1 for the first time (I know, a little late to the party on that one) and I am wondering if anyone took the single player campaign and made a D&D campaign out of it. Unfortunately google searches pretty much all bring me to pages related to the game itself, so any help would be greatly appreciated.  P.S I know that the game has received some flak for it's lack lustre single player campaign but I am actually enjoying it!
#2 Stigger Mar 31, 2011 16:58:05	I know several folks around here have been interested in doing so, but I don't recall ever hearing about any actual campaigns that got beyond the talked about stage. As to the quality of the game... lore-wise, it was a disaster, but I must admit it was pretty fun despite the glaring errors and such (the very existance of the beggar's nest, given that Neverwinter was somewhat famed for not having those sorts of places in it, being the worst one for me by far).
#3 dk13 Mar 31, 2011 17:02:35	Well I suppose the Forgotten Realms was probably shaken up a bit by the game. I'm new to D&D (4e is all I know) and so far my only Forgotten Realms experience has been through Neverwinter Nights, so it's all new to me! Oh and I would be interested in hearing just what was wrong lore wise, I'm up to the third chapter so am a fair way through so please don't worry about spoilers on my account, I will still enjoy the game anyway.

#5 Stigger Apr 01, 2011 16:18:22	What was wrong with it lore-wise... that's a big question. First off... Ophala Cheldarstone and the Moonstone Mask was just wrong on so many levels it wasn't even funny.  She's a mage (who was being considered for elevation to one of Mystra's Chosen no less), she's one of the powers behind the throne and the city, and is quite instrumental in the Many-Starred Cloak. Oleff Uskar was first described as a gnome afaik... though that's highly debatable I admit, since he was later described as a human as well.  I prefer the gnome version myself, as its far more amusing, and I think suits Neverwinter's character a little better. The Source of Neverwinter's warm river was the Neverwinter River passing very close to a rift to the elemental plane of fire, not what was described in the game, but I'm sure you'll be seeing how that was explained shortly, which was just flat out wrong... nor really necessary for the ending to work. The maps available for sale was a minor irk, given that it was specifically stated in several sources that Nasher would not allow maps to be made of the city as a small measure of making an invasion by Luskan that much more difficult.  Convenient for the game, but there were better ways to handle that I think. And that's not even out of Chapter 1... it kinda went downhill from there in a lot of respects, as sfdragon pointed out.  I doubt it would have bothered me as much had it not come on the heels of the Baldur's Gate series, which got so much right.  But that doesn't make the game any less fun, just not something to be taken too seriously in terms of the way the Realms, and in particular the North is as far as pen-and-paper are concerned.
#6 dk13 Apr 01, 2011 16:51:49	I recently got Baldurs Gate 1 and 2 from a yard sale for free but it seems 1 is missing disc 3 and 2 has a scratched first disc so I can't play the second at all and will only get through the first two discs of the first which is a shame. Oh well, you get what you pay for! No matter anyway, as I still have the rest of NWN to play plus a bunch of modules. And then I can do it all over again but no longer as a fighter but something a lot more interesting. Thanks for the responses by the way I find it really interesting!

#8 dk13 Apr 02, 2011 19:04:40	NWN2 will be on the to buy list as soon as I play through the original first. Am I right in thinking the second game wasn't as well recieved as the first? In any case, am loving the world of the story and will be looking to bring it into my D&D playing as soon as I find another group to play with
#9 sfdragon Apr 02, 2011 20:00:51	that does depend on who you ask. as people are critics. I enjoyed them both for what they each were worth. what most hated about the second though was the amount of undead and other crit immune creatures.
#10 Stigger Apr 03, 2011 11:15:17	NWN2 was fairly good... the Mask of the Betrayer expansion though was fantastic I thought, though the Storm of Zehir expansion not so much, but still decent enough to give it a go. About the undead though... they could be a little tough, but with the right weapons, they were more than managable.  Casters with Undeath to Death made things a lot more manageable I found though, though melee types with holy weapons were very effective as well.
#11 sfdragon Apr 03, 2011 11:29:38	regardless of what the public opinion, I reccomend Kaedrin's hak when you get ALL of nwn2. misery stone was a good module for complete nwn2(not compatible with kaedrin's hak though)

You can buy both Baldur's Gate games from Good Old Games, if you're happy with a digital download.
