Nov 23, 2008 16:15:45 I just had an introductory meeting for a new Forgotten Realms campaign yesterday afternoon. Of my five players (ages 8, 10, 12, 13 and about 40!), four of them would like to play something elf-like: two wood elves, one moon elf and one drow. (The fifth is dragonborn.)

I recall from another discussion on this board that the discussion of life span and age of maturity in the Player's Handbook don't match the situation for elves in the Forgotten Realms.

Would someone please tell me the age of maturity for wood elves, moon elves and drow? Also, where is this information published?

Suggestions for how to integrate the drow ranger into this party are also welcome. We will have a wood elf cleric from the High Forest, a wood elf rogue from Luskan, and a moon elf wizard from Myth Drannor. They will meet in Loudwater, using the introductory encounter from the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide. I'm not sure about where the dragonborn is from yet.

About the ages, I think (actually, I'm not sure at all...) that the FR is still using the 3rd/3.5 edition ages. Off the top of my head, I cannot say, but I think all the elven races are close to the same.

Perhaps, depending upon age, the drow could be a refugee or child of a refugee from the now destroyed (to the best of my knowledge...) 'Promenade' around Skullport (now destroyed, also) beneath Waterdeep. The 'Promenade' had amiable relations with many non-drow elves, I believe.

Personally knowing each other from the time before, or perhaps an amiable relationship between parents should work easily enough to match the drow up with the ones from Luskan and the High Forest. I believe the Moon Elves have many aboandonded cities in the Sword Coast, so a search for remains of the great civilizations (i.e. Illefarn, etc.) would be a good reason for a Moon Elf from Myth Drannor to be in the vicinity.

Many dragonborn adventure for the sake of adventuring. The dragonborn could have landed via ship from returned Abeir, or could be a long way from its home of Tymanther, or perhaps Akanul. Just about any reason could work.

Just a couple ideas, I hope it helps some.

Nov 24, 2008 12:06:38 -Elves generally live anywhere from 500 years to 1,000 years. Of course, there's plenty of exceptions to the rules, that die before 500, and after 1,000.

What about the age of maturity for a wood elf, a moon elf and a drow. Also, was this information published in a guide somewhere? I already have the 3rd edition FRCG, and am wondering if I should also seek out the 3rd edition FRPG.

-The Player's Guide to Faerûn was decent, but it was mostly rule stuff (with feats, spells and PrCs). If you are playing a 4e game, which I suspect you are, the Player's Guide to Faerûn isn't going to be all that helpful. The Forgotten Realms Player's Guide, which is for 4e, is more or less what the Player's Guide to Faerûn was for 3e.

The age of majority for elves in faerun has been understood to be around a hundred from previous editions. The actual age of maturity has been more vague.
