| #2Mr_MiscellanyJul 10, 2012 10:11:28 | Thank you sir! I wasn't happy another article was first out the door before the Realms article. Sadly, the page for the Eye article isn't loading either. Ah well, I can' wait. ![]() |
| #3Mr_MiscellanyJul 10, 2012 22:49:06 | After reading that article, I think I now know where all of Obould's many descendant's heads and crowns can be found. ;) Also, the timing for the article is interesting. It suggests 1462 DR or later, but the current year in the (4E) Realms is 1479 DR. While this shows that WotC is of course no longer ignoring the 100 year gap between the 3E and 4E Realms, I'm more curious about the article's mentioning of Elminster (or someone behaving and looking like the Elminster of old) showing up in Waterdeep and meddling like he always has. As far as I know, he's supposed to have been in Cormyr during this time and not all that powerful magic wise. |
| #4sfdragonJul 10, 2012 22:55:25 | thats just what the old mage wants you to think..... it was a mythal ghost. where wa Elminster when the spell plague hit. Obould's decendants huh... yeah the old orc king, he was what I thought of when I read the sneak peak of it. |
| #5Mr_MiscellanyJul 10, 2012 23:08:32 | Hrm...not exactly sure where old El was at when the Spellplague hit, but I do know he made Cormyr his home soon(ish) after. You know, in Bury Elminster Deep on page 287, Elminster and Storm Silverhand let it be known they were Lords of Waterdeep for a time. Could this have been during the time covered in this latest Eye on the Realms article? |
| #6Mr_MiscellanyJul 10, 2012 23:29:33 | As for the article itself: Yet another awesome article! I'm finding a lot of useful information in this series of articles and I have to say if the 5E/D&D Next is written like these articles, you'll have a very happy customer in me. I respectfully request that WotC ask Ed Greenwood to write more about Awntrus "Black Glove" Malaver, the famous and "foremost investigator for hire," who is mentioned in both this article and in the article titled the "Storm Bird" in Dragon 411. He's a very interesting character and it would be awesome to get an additional Eye article, short story or even a full novel that focuses on him, his adventures/exploits and the characters he interacts with (such as the independent adventurer-wizard Jessalythe Sparrantar). I'm glad to see the article was at least five pages in length. I would happily pay more for Eye articles on the order of ten or even fifteen pages. |
| #7Mr_MiscellanyJul 15, 2012 0:04:29 | where wa Elminster when the spell plague hit. Well, we didn't quite get the answer to that question from Ed on the Candlekeep.com forums, but he did mention how Elminster made his way to Waterdeep. Cool beans. Not every portal was destroyed during the Spellplague, it seems. ;) |
