#1 spellbinder5150 Sep 17, 2010 9:59:46	My girlfriend, some new friends and myself are getting ready to start a new FR campaign soon.  I wanted to do Dark Sun but my GF is much more attracted to the generic fantasy of FR.  I am only vaguely familiar with Faerun, knowing about some of its main characters somewhat, owning the 3e and 4e sourcebooks, and having read part of one novel.  I am assuming the novels would be a great place to immerse oneself in order to learn as much as possible about the world.   Does anyone know of a good website that has a current list of all the FR novels and puts them in order so I would even know where to start? I want to learn as much as I can about the realms and the 4e version of it now.  I need to learn about its peoples, its geography, some history, etc.  If I could find some audiobooks it would really help a great deal. Thanks in advance!

I know that Salvatore has audiobooks but I'm not sure about any other FR authors myself. If you're both new to FR, it might be good just to start small and choose one area and not worry too much about the world entire. Is there any particular area that has grabbed your attention from the campaign books you have?
#3 guest1508979424 Sep 17, 2010 15:33:03	Be sure to read the 4e Campaign Guide with the map spread out in front of you and a notepad beside you for writing Plot Threads you'd like to make happen just from your general impressions.  ONLY then should you begin to read 3rd edition or prior because it will REALLY upset you when all the amazing details of Forgotten Realms get blown up and destroyed.  I love the prior editions now for "ruins" as my players explore the countryside but I'm currently running a Genasi based campaign in Akanul.  As they're now getting out of the "big cities" aka Airspur & Brassune the rest of the countryside is mostly apocalyptic frontier since it's literally a continent that was dumped on top of Chessenta & the rest of the Bandit Kingdoms from the previous edition.
