But it's history now. Complaining at this point just turns the forum into a... complainground. You don't want more complaingrounds, do you? Some information, if desired: 1) WotC has stated that they are not retconning history. However, their upcoming 5e Sundering series is intended to re-sunder the Abeir/Toril (making it a bit more like it was). 2) Although WotC will be supporting their most current timeline, they will also be trying to make period agnostic FR material (Elminster's Forgotten Realms is a good example of this). 3) The Sundering series of adventures will be compatible with 3.5e, 4e and D&D Next. 3) The above map was intended to be used in Vault of the Dracolich and Search for the Diamond Staff (i.e. set in 1479 DR, but either of which could be converted to a different era without much difficulty). |
| #6The_SilverswordJun 18, 2013 1:20:33 | Yeah the Dales havnt really changed much, aside from whos ruling them, so really you could cross out the 1479 and put in 1369 or whatever, and anyways I though the current year was 1480? |
| #7ImruphelJun 18, 2013 1:21:19 | By the way, for some inexplicable reason, all of the wallpapers cut off the bottom of the map. Yay, WotC web team! The PDF has the full version. www.wizards.com/dnd/files/Dalelands_Map_... |

| #9mvincentJun 18, 2013 12:33:35 | I though the current year was 1480? I believe the intent is to have FR years advance mostly in time with real ones. So: 2009 = 1479 DR (Year of the Ageless one) 2010 = 1480 DR (Year of Deep Water Drifting) 2011 = 1481 DR (Year of the Grinning Halfling) 2012 = 1482 DR (Year of the Narthex Murders) 2013 = 1483 DR (Year of the Tasked Weasel) That said: maps made in 1479 can be expected to still be in use. |
