Hey friends, I have few questions for those of you who managed to transition from 3.5 FR to the 4th edition FR. I just got the books few days ago, I am a long time FR player (mostly DM actualy),

The books that I currently have are the three Core books plus the FR campaign guide and the FR player's guide. So according to your advices I might purchase more supplements that might suit my ideas.

1. I have an Aasimar Paladin in my group, and I can't seem to find anything about Aasimars in 4th edition. So what should I do? Make him an Eladrin? or Tiefling and just say that he is an Aasimar? does Aasimars just suddenly disappeared from the FR universe?

2. I have noticed that both the players guide and the FR player's guide focus on good characters and good deities. Is there any supplement that provides rules for evil characters? evil Chosens? Evil cleric feats etc'. (In the player's guide they provide feats only for clerics who worship good deities.)

3. I am not sure how to implement the Eladrins in to the game. I understand that they are the sun and moon elves, but I didn't understand if they refer to themselves as Eladrins or Elves. Also, it seems that the Moon and Sun elves are now much more connected to their fey heritage then before, how do I make those changes in a character? I will give an example here:

I play a Moon elf Ranger, the year is 1374 year of thunder storms. I travel, adventure, save the world, etc. Now its 1479, I am an elf so I live for a long time and I have survived the Spellplague. How do I suddenly become close to the Feywild? 100 years ago I was just simple elf from Everaska, now suddenly I am a fey creature that can teleport short distances... this is a major question here, and I would really love to receive good answers from other DMs which made this transition work.

Thank you very much for your time!

Regarding official information, and following the new WotC new strategy, there is very little information on the current state of the realms beyond the CG and PG.

What there is are mainly some tidbits in novels, the "Eye on the Realms" column from Ed and a few articles in the formally know magazines Dragon/Dungeons.

The Spellplague did indeed bring the Shadowfell and the Feywild closer to the primal plane, something that appears to be going to be expanded (although on a generic, rather than Realms specific way) during this year, given the product release plans.

This proximity brought large groups of Eladrin from the Feywild to Toril, mainly to Mith Drannor, which helped restore some of its glory and reduce the Drow and Eldreth Veluuthra influence from it.

1: Aasimar became the Deva in the phb2
2:DDI articles can provide dnd core info on them, the MMs also have tid bits on them as maybe the underdark has lolth I think....(mm3 has lolth in for sure)
3: They can call themselves  both.

As for your character, I'd personally work it into your backstory.  One day, in days, weeks, maybe even months after the Spellplague hit, he begins to feel somewhat odd as the Feywild begins to merge closer to the regular plane of existance than it was in the 3e Realms.

One day, he or she is involved in some sort of battle and gets into trouble.  Something awakens inside your character and he suddenly finds himself 25 feet away from where he was just a second ago.  Eventually, he figures out a way to control it.

@Hayabusa:
This solution indeed came as the natural option when I first thought on how to do it. The thing is that I wanted to know if there is some reference to this in game lore.

As it seems right now they made the FR world much more open to the common DM interpretation rather then set every single thing about the world is stone. As an old FR fen (sense BG and the Moonshae Isles Novels) I like it and hate it at the same time.

I think everybody hates and likes it at the same time and that might be where it fails.....

Eladrin Feat choices will likely help determine whether your Character is Sun or Moon.

As far as a transition, our group had a massive quest c.1374 that closed our 3.5 adventures.  I allowed them to think about their past characters who would or could survive the Spellplague and they are slowly gaining an understanding of what Spellplague is.  I did not make a vast jump in time and have allowed them to start their present adventure during the transition period c.1470's where some people are still unsure of what has happened all over Faerun because this particular group of players aren't aware of all the changes.  I gave them an atmosphere of Dark Age superstitions and rumors some facts others fiction.  I am mainly the DM with this gaming group(for the past 3-4 years they have been busy but are starting to ask about DMing when their time allows) and a few of them are novel readers(or collectors) just now getting into some of the Spellplague affected series.

They are still using 3E Campaign Guide Maps as they explore the realms.  I introduce changed areas as they went and give them a glimpse every now and again of the newer less detailed map.  I still have not placed it (the new Map) on our wall and I keep the old one up.  I give them a look when they ask to see it.

They actually started their first 4E Realms adventure in a Plagueland trying to remember who they were, why they can't remember, where they are, what they were trying to do and why.  It made for some good role playing character developements and introduced the effects of plaguelands(A pulsing orb suspended over a river, they awake with broken memories of a battle with hordes of gibberling.  Looking around they realise that some sort of blast issued from the orb destroying the mounds of stinking beast surrounding them.  Skill Challenge to escape plagueland)  Only one of the party did not gain a spellscar.  Once that adventure session closed (or opened up future adventures) I backed off the heavy setting issues and focused on traditional style adventures with the spellplague realms as a flavored back drop.

It is interesting though seeing their reactions to places they once knew and adventured in for 20 years changed(since the mid1980's wow it has been more than 20).  They are somewhat over some of the shock now having an understanding what the Spellplague is and the strife of the Gods and Nations.  The games are flowing like they use to and they are starting to discuss effects of the Spellplague and what it might have had on their previous heros.  That gave me the idea of incorperating legends around their old characters, lost magic items, previous adventure sites, and rumors of what might have happened to some of those old hero PC's during the last 90 years in the Realms.

We played and DM'ed for years in the Realms in 2e and 3e - it easily became our favorite setting.  Some major changes definitely take place in 4e, and the start of the FRCG and PGtF help hit those highlights well with their bullet point-style overview.

We did finally get around to playing a 4e Realms campaign last year, a paragon-tier only mini-campaign and it was quite fun.  My brother, the DM, pulled one of the beautiful new maps of Vaasa from the DDI Dragon/Dungeon online magazines.  The Warlock Knights of Vaasa article inspired us both to make our return to the Realms in Vaasa.

Still felt like the sweeping and massive world of the Realms, but also had this sense of some earth-shaking changes haven taken place.  Hopefully we return to it someday for some epic play, as everyone enjoyed the return to its dominant Realmsian feel and flavor, albeit a bit different in some big ways.

Im quite disappointed they cut out the Aasimar class. We actually have two Aasimars in our group and I dont get it - why keeping Tieflings but not Aasimars? The Forgotten Realms changes I have heard about thus far makes me quite disappointed.

Question: Will Greyhawk campaign setting be published soon?

Aasimars are a race, not class, but I'm just assuming you mis-typed Laughing and they are in 4E. They've been reflavored as Devas (Aasimars are what they're called in certain parts of Faerûn). They've lost a little of what made them more "celestial" like no more resistance to acid, fire, electricity and no more 1/day—daylight BUT they still receive +2 Wis; +2 Int or +2 Cha which make them great Paladins/Cavaliers as well as Clerics, Invokers, Avengers, Wizards, and a slew of other classes. They're racial power is pretty good too, allowing a 1d6 to any roll you want once per encounter! Granted, I'm not thrilled that they don't reproduce (something I've hand-waved away in my home games) or that if they die doing evil deeds or are of evil alignment they reincarnate into Raksashas for no real apparent reason. But all of that can be easily changed or modified so whatevs.

As for you question about Greyhawk, I doubt we'll see one honestly. This will be year 4 that they will be releasing another setting (supposedly) but I'm thinking it'll either fall to Dragonlance or just not be done as they point to Gamma World support and the Ravenloft game and say: "Well, we put out two distinct sub-settings to the D&D rules, so sorry no full-blown setting this year." Though this is all my opinion.

Happy Gaming!

They cancelled the planned Ravenloft setting that was supposed to come out later this year, and didnt announced any more settings, so ya, im pretty sure there wont be a 4th Ed Greyhawk setting.
