| #1frbrazilJan 20, 2009 0:02:48 | Reading Lost Empires of Faerûn I bumped into something really new to me. I never gave it proper attention, I mean, actually Netheril never sounded interesting to me before, but suddently, I've made up my mind, when I discovered how numerous are the possibilities of adventure seeds Netheril secrets and forgotten sites can provide. I read Ioulaum dwells in an abandoned city, formely inhabited by mind flayers, whose name is Ellyn'Taal. I could refer to Underdark, in order to gather more information, but it was worthless. Nothing. I would like to know if are there any other material sources which mention explicitly or insinuate a possible location for this place. Thank you in advance. |

Tabra Ioulaum's appretice, who was recently captured by the Shadovar was described in Volos guide to the north, but no detailed describtion is given of the mindflayer city. Maybe it's a good guess to assume, that it's ruins are located somewhere between the north and Anauroch/Netheril? Best wishes Lirdolin |

Yes, the mind flayer's name is X'ss'a, and you're right, besides his origins and current plans, no additional information can be found on him reading LEoF. I wish I could find Ellyn'Taal's exact location, but knowing this issue can't be solved using the available material sources, I'm about to place it somewhere around the Serpent Hills, which had been previously used to store Netherese ancient magic power, as stated in Serpent Kingdoms. Would you do it? Thank you Lirdolin, and thank you too, LK (; |

It could, in theory, exist, say, all the way in the South, beneath Chult, or all the way in the East, beneath Thay, but, to me, it makes sense to have it somewhere in the North. |

Well, I read your point, and now I can't agree more. The North seems to be the best region to set Ellyn'Taal. |
