He isn't a god per say, he is a very powerful demonlord. He resides in the Abyss. IIRC the 242 layer called Thantos.

He does have a cult of followers, but I think the Evil and Chaos is what gives his followers spells. I could be wrong on that.

Orcus will rarrely be able to invest his followers with divine aid in the realms though. He has to many enemies to freely do so for a long time.

His followers subsequently will be foul merchants, warriors or necromancers aiming to become undead of some sort. Think cursts, deathknights and liches that operate in his cults upper echelons.

After the spellplague his influence will have had a chance to flourish in the less travelled villages.

Also, with his arch-nemesis Kiaransalee no longer present in Realmspace (thank you very much, Lisa Smedman and designers), he has a bit more clout. He can operate with one less major obstacle in his path. He still has Demogorgon and Graz'zt to contend with, but it's less of a burden with the Revenancer gone.

That would have gotten you flamed around here back in the day. Seriously flamed, and trolled, and flamed some more. Then someone would have posted Richard Baker MUST be stopped!!!! The times they are a changing

*gets his harmonica out* I'm aware. The tide has ebbed. Seriously, though, I'm not anti-4E, and I have nothing in common with the anti-4E FR crowd of old (I think at this point I can say "of old") save our mutual love of the 1E-3E FR. I love the Realms in all its incarnations. Still, just because I'm pro-4E doesn't mean I like everything they did. When I say things like the above quote, I mean them in a humorous, sarcastic kind of way, not a hostile, accusatory way.
