| #1suin_bahhar_02Feb 16, 2009 14:54:54 | This thread will attempt to collect the communities memorable smalltime NPC's, commonly found in Inn's around the realms. Post you're smalltime commoners, fisherman, village fools, wisened elders and others. Doug The journey was long and tiring, the wine was stale, the Inn's smell horrible but the smile featured on lady Routhim lips was unmistaken. The inn's whole crowd was raptured by the tale spun by this roughened commoner with the baritone voice, keeping quiet the whole two hours or so his story took in telling. With animated voice and subtle gestures this saltweathered vagabond had used the taverns table as a podium with a tale rivaling those of herladies own house historians. It was long past sunset when the crowd cleared to find their own beds after that wonderful uplifting tale of the magician turned seagull and never turning back. From that night and onwards the rural seaside inn wasn't so awful a place for the nobleborn lady Routhim visited Doug's story hour whenever she could find time after an evening of horseback riding. Douganen of Restholding CR 1 Neutral Good Human Male Commoner 2 "roughened fisherman storyteller" HP: 12 Init: +2 Speed: 30ft Space/Reach: 5ft AC: 12 t: 12 F: 10 Bab: +1 Grapple: +3 Attack: melee +5 1d3+2 Abilities: Str: 15, Dex: 14, Con: 16, Int: 10 Wis: 14, Cha: 14 Saves: Fort +5, Ref +2, Will +2 Skills: Bluff +3, Perform (oratory) +6, Profession (Fisherman) +10, Ride +3, Swim +5, Use Rope +5 Feats: Skillfocus (Perform Oratory), Skillfocus (Profession: Fisherman) Possessions: -on his person a cloak, tattered rags and a water skin, steel flask of spirits (worth 1gp) and a beltpouch with 3 coppers left. -owns a fishing ship, The Ol' Betty, a keelboat running in the family Combat/Tactics: When confronted with violence he does what sensible commoners do: Hit back! Hard! He has been known to use his natural strength to knock down would be persuers. He is quick to accept defeat though and is known to be merciful when talked to. Friends/Allies: Few enemies and lots of friends, everybody within a few miles from his seaside cottage knows Doug. He is seen as an honest and hardworking man, not afraid of outsiders, be they noblemen or adventurers, and often speaks for the local village when representatives of the nearest town come by. Foes/Enemies: Some representatives from the nearby town have been called names by Douganen when on visit in the hamlet, and have remained grudgefull towards him over the years. His younger brothers are jealous of him getting the family boat. Appearance: Doug is a man in his early 20’s, of average height, with a strong set, wiry build. He has grey brown eyes, and shortly cropped, thick, dark brown hair that is largely unkempt. He wears a simple home spun tunic, tattered to manageable shreds by his constant work with chaffing fishing nets, ropes and oars on the boat. His most prized possession is the Ol' Betty, a simple seaworthy keelship inhereted from his crippled father. His most unusual feature is his right hand, for he misses a finger due to an unfortunate tug of war with a strong makarel catch. Personality: No nonsense fisherman raised to work hard and efficient, this commoner is not fazed by protocol or apearances. His keen eyes take note of small details and his memory is renowned across the seaside. He has a small vocabulary but nonetheless has an uncommon knack with words for a simpleton commoner. History: Raised in the salty air of the seaside fisheries, Doug has had little formal education. He can scarsely read ten words but is well versed in the telling vivid tales, a trait he adopted from his long dead mother. Since two years he has had the responceability to run the family fishery and is doing a splendid job at it. Motives and Goals: Doug has little care for gold or power, instead wants to marry a fine lass to take care of his cottage when he's away fishing with his brothers and the lads. He dreams of finding fame one day by happenstance, as in the stories his Ma used to tell. His luck is not showing though, and he is wary of the big mouthes his younger brothers are starting to grow. |
| #2meto30Feb 19, 2009 14:57:08 | I was thinking of an NPC, but without any books I can't build a stat bloc ![]() So just the story - Simon the Wine Maker (Simonicus Mektio, son of Geronicus, inhabitant of New Simbar) Simon is your ordinary merchant. He wakes up early in the morning to supervise his employees working in the vinyards. He is known as someone not so hard to work for, but he dishes out punishments to unwilling workers as neccessary; he had had one freedslave slapped on the buttocks 100 times and then had him fired. His wine is medium grade, and usually sells to innkeepers and streetside bars. The Vinyard is a family business, inhereted from his father-in-law; his own family line is not well known. Before his marriage he is known to have been quite an adventurer in his own right; even today, at age 40, he still retains the nimble yet strong body of his younger days. Simon does not hide that he was a cutthrought rogue from the time his puvic hair first grew and until the very day he married his wife. There is a rumour in town that Simon even has connections to various crime syndicates operating in the area; since most of them has some sort of connection with Tchazzar, Simon might as well. Combat/Tactics: As his rumour goes, Simon knows how to protect himself, and the few ruffians Friends/Allies: INCOMPLETE |
