Where are there homelands?

May 22, 2010 4:33:27 The Player's Guide covers a few of these, but for the most part you'd need to pick out appropriate locations on your own. Old-E material can give you some ideas to work with, though you'll need to account for the differing themes of some of them in old-E vs 4E.

Where are there homelands?

Goliaths could come from the Mountains.

Shifters could be the People of the Black Blood(Malar worshipers)

Minotaurs from the Labiryth(sp) in the Underdark(North Dark)

Gith(you mean the Githyanki right?) from the Astral Sea.

May 22, 2010 11:19:35 The Forgotten Realms PLayer's Guide gives us some info on where races from PHB2 would be found: Goliaths live mostly in the little-known ranges of eastern Faerun- The Thesk Mountains, The Mountains of Copper, The Sunrise Mountains, and even the bitterly cold Icerim Mountains.

Devas have their origins with the ancient Mulan peoples. When they summoned their ancient deities to Faerun, so to came their angelic servants. Just as those ancient gods could only send avatars to Faerun, the angelic servants who accompanied them also had to incorparate themsleves in mortal flesh.

Lycanthropes have long shadowed the human and elven realms of Faerun, so really Shifters could be found anywhere. There are a few large groups dotted acroos Faerun worthy of note: The werewoods outside of Baldur's Gate, and the Glimmerwood near Silverymoon, are home to lycanthropes with evil designs on the local inhabitants. Despite tribes like these many Shifters refuse the dark path of their heritage. For example the Great Dale and the Forest of Lethyr are home to several seminomadic Shifters who just want to be left to themselves. Dambrath's Shifters, while suspicious of strangers reserve hatred only for the Drow.

Many of the "newer" races such as Gnomes and Minotaurs have a long history with the Forgotten Realms, so could be placed very easily within the setting.
