| #1vaashinAug 06, 2009 22:50:24 | I'll get too the point. I'm running a game in fr and i wan't it too feel like an fr game. Here's what it looks like thus far. The adventure is starting in cormyr. The Purple knights and town gaurd have there hands tied with the usual suspects. Goblin mercenaries working for a vampire [if you can name one that acts like this please say who] are attacking travlers in an attempt to draw adventurers too suzial so he can turn them into thralls too help him conquer cormyr. A vampire thrall loyal too Kas is in suzail too keep him informed about thay and netheril's actions in cormyr [both of wich he hates] The first adventure is the party travels too suzail. Get there licence and investigate goblins at the docks. any advice is welcome |

First off, I think this should be in the Running The Realms board. But no harm, no foul. Second off, could you describe the vampire more? Why does he want to conquer Cormyr? Simple ambition, revenge, desire to enter the Faerunian political sphere, base of operations for something grander, etc.? To be honest, I can't think of any vampires particularly tied to Cormyr. How does the thrall know where to find Netherese and Thayan agents? Furthermore, why does the vampire hate those two nations? Is it the hostility of a born leader, or does he have personal motives against them? Why does he choose not to temporarily ally with either? For some general advice: - You might want to consider having the party ally with a noble house. This provides them with an HQ, allies, resources, and a sense of comfort in case they land on hard times. In fact, perhaps the vampire hails from another noble bloodline, or has allied himself with one. - Have them interact with the Purple Dragons. There should be a nice gamut: grizzled veteran, xenophobic supernationalist, bright-eyed rookie, stern officer, chaotic crowd-pleaser, etc. Also, a meeting with a War Wizard somewhere down the lines might help build plot. - See how the party reacts to their close proximity to King Foril's Court. Use rumor, decrees, and myths to stir up trouble, excitement, curiosity, etc. They might end up becoming closer to a higher-up, or they might end up in the middle of a feud. - Make sure they build a reputation amongst the commoners. It'll serve well when compared to their ties with the noble house (if you choose that path). You might want a few commoners to dislike the heroes for no other reason than their heroes; how the party reacts will in turn help determine their greater remark. |

He basically wantsp too be king of the undead so it's not hard too see him opposing thay and netheril. As for the thrall he's basicly snatching up anyone he suspects and tortures them for info with the expected results [fyi he's the first but he won't be the last] but i think i'll take your advice and have him use his status and loyalty too the crown as a cover As for the other vampire I'm open too sugjestions truthfully I'm up in the air about the details about him all i settled on was his plan.us |

But they are ruthless expansionists, so I can see why anyone would oppose them. As for the thrall he's basicly snatching up anyone he suspects and tortures them for info with the expected results [fyi he's the first but he won't be the last] Ah. As for the other vampire I'm open too sugjestions truthfully I'm up in the air about the details about him all i settled on was his plan.us Well, there are quite a few viable options: 1. He's a bastard child of Azoun IV. Azoun IV (not to be confused with his grandson Azoun V who ruled during the Spellplague and beyond) produced literally hundreds of illegitimate offspring, many of whom were brushed to the side and ignored. Perhaps the vampire resented this treatment, and turned to vampirism to secure longevity and the time to build his strength and lie in wait for the nation's weakest days. 2. He's of Sembian descent. The Sembians have long been foes of Cormyr. Perhaps the vampire is a traditionalist and believes himself superior to Cormyrians. In fact, he might have left Sembia because of its state as a puppet of Netheril, a betrayal of its former might and independence. 3. He's of noble Cormyrian blood. His family was disgraced and never recovered. He holds a grudge, and wishes to claim the land as his own. To that effect, he wishes to enslave the minds of the people as his own undead citizens, who won't be able to remember his family's disgrace. This provides with a great insanity angle. Also a twist: perhaps his undead servants are those who served his family before the fall. 4. He was a commoner by birth. He believed those of his class were mistreated by the nobility. By becoming a vampire, he hopes to overturn the established order and bring about the end of the upper class. 5. He's a disgraced War Wizard or Purple Dragon. He was discharged for some mess-up, but not before he smuggled a few state secrets with him. Now he hopes to use his knowledge of the land's weaknesses to his advantage, and effectively use an invasion to snatch up the land piece by piece. 6. He's a madman. Seriously. He wants to see one of the oldest human civilizations disintegrate in a bloody civil war. He'll pick up the pieces if he wants, or he can just leave the land to burn. Hope that helps in some way. |
