Hello all,

I am working on a Neverwinter Nights 2 mod. I want Neverwinter to potentially serve as my main hub, but I cannot find too much information on its pre-spellplague layout.

Are the districts featured in the game creations of the game developers, or are there books that describe these areas? Docks District, Beggar's Next, City Core District, Blacklake District, etc... Were the slums where the crevace formed? Was the Moonstone Mask always supposed to be on an island, or was in moved after the spellplague?

Does an official pre-spellplague map exist? I found a map that is extremely close to the post-spellplague map, but it does not appear to be from an official source.

Any information you DnD gurus could provide would be great.

The only earlier map I know of is the one from the Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas, a software product from 1999 (late 2nd ed.) that you aren't likely to run across at a sane price these days. I've seen that map online, so I suspect it's the one you're thinking of. It is official, but Mike Schley's post-Spellplague map has a big crevasse in the southeastern part of the city that the earlier map doesn't, so sadly they aren't totally interchangeable. (Too bad - I really like Schley's maps, but any Realms game I ran would probably rewind to 1357 DR, so no Spellplague crevasses for me.)

I doubt that Neverwinter has been given the same kind of detailed treatment as Waterdeep: City of Splendors.  Alas.  It would be a chewable-size project.  (And probably make somebody a reputation.)
