Heads up: a preliminary outline for Forum Reorganization has been posted to the Community Business forum by WotC_Huscarl.

So far, the three Realms forums look to be folded into just one forum.

Agree? Disagree?

Regardless, if you have something to say (not a rant, mind), let WotC know on that thread.

It's what has needed to be done due to the low traffic for a few years now...

Thanks Misc.

Meh, I've fought this one before on the basis of keeping canon lore and campaign lore discussions easily seperable and on the fact that when they have collated the forums they have had to *un*collate them because of traffic concerns.

But to be quite honest, the people who seemed to start (and maintain) most of the "lore for lore's sake" discussions seem to have gone, which probably takes care of both arguments... people will say. So if it doesn't happen now, it will happen later, and what will come will come.

Since I first created this thread to link to the forum reorg discussion, some points have been elaborated on by WotC.

  • WotC doesn't intend to delete any threads, if possible.

  • The criteria for consolidation is based on forum usage. Thus, even if it makes sense for a group of related forums to stay separate (for example: Realmslore vs. Running the Realms), if those two forums aren't generating traffic, they'll still get folded together. (And stay that way until such time as increased traffic warrants consideration of splitting the forums in two.)

  • Sticky threads: WotC feels there are too many of them. They're considering folding several sticky threads into Wikis. Not sure how you all feel about that (that is, do we need the sticky threads in the various Realms forums to be put in a Wiki or left where they're at as one mass of stickies at the top of the single Realms forum we'll be given).

I don't know the whole thing sounds too sticky to me.Laughing

Just as long as, if I am searching for some subject of Realmslore, I am able to hit a search engine and find some topic that is important to my present game design or character research.Wink

This sometimes saves me from having to post questions though I have found traffic is down but I for one have been busy and figured others have been busy as well.Cry

Information is the Key to Realmslore.

Discussions are interesting to read and participate in.

Gaming Information and Statistics are another Monster in relation to Homebrew Games or if someone needs help with NPC construction based on previous Editions bringing into the most Modern Edition.

We have to remember within the Realms are many Creatures and Entities have lived for Thousands of years (Something that is out in our world that has been around since Ancient Egypt's Pyramids were built).  No matter the Edition in the Realms and to simplify this is no small feat.  Now if they Keep some of the important Detailed Post about Elves, Regions of the Past, Gods, Power Groups, etc and dump the rest of binUndecided I guess that would work.  But I do know, there are some Great Nuggets of Realmslore, unfound anywhere on the Web, Right Here.Cool

Now the Next Best Thing they could do would be to purchase the Rights and Reprint some of those fantastic Rare Books in a cheap limited Press.  But now that would be an Oghma thing or Deneir.Embarassed

Though I guess they could scrap it make it simple call it Forgotten Realms and we can do this all again until the next Cataclysmic event.Laughing ToT
