purple dragon thief?

Is there any fiction or old moduals that deal with "thieves" being knighted?
Story wise he sees himself as a scout, combat engineer, and "bomb squad"

Elminster's daughter was also made an agent of the Realm, though I dont think if it ever said that she was knighted or not I dont remember.

But any martial class was capable of being a Purple Dragon Knight...

not sure any of it answers your question though

Jul 20, 2012 8:52:46 The Purple Dragon theme is designed for those who are willing to risk everything for the betterment of Cormyr and isn't designed for any one specific class. A Wizard who uses the Art to help defend a Cormyrean town or a thief who stumbles on a coupe to overthrow the government and does their best to thwart their plans are all ways that they serve Cormyr and can gain the title of Purple Dragon.

And as sfdragon mentioned, the High Knight of Cormyr was a sort of spy for the crown and more mobile and streetwise than your average Purple Dragon Knight or warrior.

I figured Cormyr would be to practicle to be afraid of stealth and trap disarming but I have never read any of the fiction.

I'd suggest you take a look at Ed Greenwood's Swords of Eveningstar, which is Book 1 of the Knights of Myth Drannor trilogy.

This book features the adventurers from Cormyr who were knighted for heroic service to the Forest Kingdom (as Cormyr is also known).

There are preferences, of course (rogues usually get knighthoods, while spellcasters tend to get extraordinary titles instead of hereditary ones), but there are plenty of knights and highknights of the realm (proportionately more of the latter) that are rogues or thieves.

If you'd like some more information about the ranks and titles of Cormyr, there's a handy little article called, funnily enough, Crowns and Mantles: The Ranks and Titles of Cormyr. Have a look, if you think it'll help.

They make a good theif and I like the idea of stacking two buffs to fear saves.

I'd suggest you take a look at Ed Greenwood's Swords of Eveningstar, which is Book 1 of the Knights of Myth Drannor trilogy.

This book features the adventurers from Cormyr who were knighted for heroic service to the Forest Kingdom (as Cormyr is also known).

Just realized I may have made a mistake here: the characters in the Knights of Myth Drannor trilogy are granted an adventuring charter in Swords of Eveningstar.

I'm not actually sure now in which book of the trilogy those characters are made knights. I'm guessing book 2 (or later in book 1).

Overall, most Cormyreans are accepting of members of the "good" races (dwarves, elves, gnomes, halflings). Certain folk (nobles in particular) have their prejudices, but there's no institutional rejection.

The Hin are not discriminated against, but their usual reluctance for getting involved in local politics and law enforement makes halfling agents of the Crown fairly rare. It's absolutely possible, but it's not all that common.
