Purple Knight Ranger Background (Forgotten Realms)

this is my first background so bare with me.

My DM is setting up a new campaign and im playing a Ranger. Here is the character sheet:

Janus, Eleven Ranger

FR Background = Vilhon Wilds

Attributes (With racial mods):
STR = 12
CON = 13
DEX = 20
INT = 7
WIS = 20
CHA = 7

Skills:
Dungeoneering
Acrobatics
Perception
Athletics
Stealth

Feats
Weapon Proficiency (Greatbow)

Powers:
Twin-Strike (At-Will)
Nimble Strike (At-Will)
Two-Fanged Strike (Encounter)
Hunter's Bear Trap (Daily)

Background

I was all set up to make a cliche background when i was browseing the Forgotten Realms Wiki when i saw a order of the Purple Dragon Knights.

I want my ranger to belong to or have an affiliation with these guys, so i was wondering if anyone on here had a idea how i would go about this.

My idea was that my Elf-Home in Vilhon Wilds was destroyer while i was out hunting by a group of Death Knights (Enemy #1) and still being small and childlike was taken in by a Battlemaster of the Purple Dragon Knights and trained to be one or something along those lines. i just need out fleshing out the story line and getting a few good deatils for my DM, who wants.

Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum...more elements are encouraged! You could even bring a drawing!!!

Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game.

Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. I will also be creating a third secret which you as a player will not be aware of, so expect some surprises!

Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you.

Step 5: Describe three memories that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor. You can even make one of these a current problem/dilemma you are faced with.

Dec 18, 2008 10:15:02 The Purple Dragon Knights are the signature military force of the Kingdom of Cormyr, so take a look at that region in the FRPG, perhaps.

Dec 19, 2008 0:18:43 far more likely than Vilhon, if your character is from Myth Drannor (as Myth Drannor, the once-capital of Cormanthor and now city-state) it could happen as Myth Drannor is an ally of Cormyr.

Or you could just be from Cormyr itself.

Or later join the Purple Dragon Knights.

Dec 22, 2008 20:50:42 I agree, I think Cormyr would be the best choice if you want to be a member of (or involved with) the Purple Dragons (in Realmslore, they are pretty much never called "Purple Dragon Knights", btw).
