#1 Coolplayer May 11, 2010 11:12:45	There is an epic item that one of my characters in my game (through research) has decided she wants to seek out and obtain.  She's not yet epic, but eventually I'm going to put her on a quest to obtain the item.  It's known as the Wyrm Rod (or Rod of the Wyrm).  I was wondering since I'm running this game in the Forgotten Realms setting (Year is currently 1372), where could such an item be found?  I mean I have a few ideas but I'd like to see what you all can come up with.  This is in the brainstorming stage still so any help would be appreciated.  :D
#2 ukplayerx May 11, 2010 13:03:47	you might want to look at 'Weapons of Legacy' - split the item into seperate (inactive pieces) - the main jewel is now the centrepiece for a crown, the smaller jewels are now in the form of non-magic rings, necklaces, ear-rings etc better still place a jewel item in your game now and watch the players accidentally sell it. Then they'll spend the next few sesions chasing it up to re-buy :D one part could be sitting un-noticed in a dragons hoard, another piece, like a necklace, could have it's own history - a family heirloom etc. Also remember that in our world stories get told, re-told and then embellished to make them more fantastic so create a solid backstory for the item and think which parts were made more interesting - its powers, what it's made from, previous owners, wars it interfered with or caused hope this helps

The ones sfdragon mentioned are good ones, and probably have more current information, but you can download the 2e Cult of the Dragon source book for free in the previous editons downloads. www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/do... Also theres a map of the Well of Dragons in the 3e Lord of Darkness book the sfdragon mentioned, its basically the HQ of the Cult, and the location of the Dragon Graveyard, so it might be a good locale for the artifact itself, aswell as other nasties such as Dracoliches and dragon ghosts that goldomark brought up.
