But aside from powers, said only to be in the coronals use.

May not be this one tho.. Afterall the house has a history stretching back to before the crownwars, and protesting the wars back then ;)
Goes without further elaboration that they should have more than a few staffs made during those ~25000 years and maybe 2000 historical high mages in the house?

I doubt it would be a exaggeration to claim the house has, or has had, more staffs -exceeding a staff of magi in power-, than there are humans in the dalelands now!

-Anyway, the Accumulator is more than just a staff. It is a staff, and (the most important part) a "powerbase" that was in one of the two Towers of the Sun and Moon.

-It's stats have never been written, but suffice to say, it's packing some serious heat.

Jun 13, 2008 11:15:36 I called it a 100 lv spell storage device, capable of holding epic spells and high magic. But I am a 3.5 primitive. I do not know the new system to offer opinions on what it will be for that.

One thing I liked about the system in Role Master that seems to be the coming thing in D&D is the fact that Power was a universal trait and expression of that power was you class style, for instance the One Ring was a X 10 Power Point Multiplier, so that if you had 4 pts per level, and were level three you went from 12 points 120 pts. It neatly accounted for the effects one saw in the stories. Even a fighter became greater because of it... Of course Role Master also used the notion that if you were a Mage you knew all the spells on lists that went level 50 or so, and that a spell cost one power point per level (a level three spell was 3 pp) the point being much that D&D has adopted over the years, skill points, spell levels matching caster levels, and the combat attack scale that is matched against the defense scale... so far ahead of its time.

It can be hard to work backwards from the effect you want, to a rule set that governs it.

Jul 17, 2009 7:27:56 My guess is the Accumulator is a pretty expensive device. In 3.5 the maker must be at least epic or 21st level, and have acces to a globe of magic conducting material the size of a small car.

The major spellstoring rings in the DMG can store ten levels of spells for the price of 200 000 gp; a storage for epic spells of upto 100 spelllevels might cost about a hundred times more so 20 000 000 gp.

*Although, given what it was capable of, the odds of it not really being destroyed when the Towers of the Sun and Moon were destroyed are 50/50.

Jul 17, 2009 10:56:46 I'd use it as an artifact that had the same abilites as a Spell Pool (Spellcrux, 2e's College of Wizardry). The same rules were applied to 3e's Complete Arcane (Mage of the Arcane Order PrC).

I'd also make it a staff of the Magi on top of that (just to differentiate it from a Spellcrux, and give it more of a 'staffy' feel).

So yeah... definately a Greater Artifact (probably created with Elven high Magic, which is also good for making cookies).
