#1 meto30 Nov 07, 2011 11:37:21	Hello, I've been trying to find if the mountain range that can be seen in the Faerun map between the Far Forest and the Fallen Lands (the North) has a name in the rulebooks I own (or if it is simply considered an extention of the Graypeak Mountains) to no avail. Can someone tell me if the range has a name, and if it does, what the name is? If the range doesn't have a name, what would be an appropriate name? I've been thinking of naming it the Far Mountains (because it is located near the Far Forest) or the Shadowdusk mountains (after a dungeon I've placed there, and yes I am aware it shares a name with a sublevel of Undermountain) but would like some input from more experienced FR DMs. PS. I've not been to the forums since like 2008, and whoa, the place has changed. Where has gone all the numerous sub-forums? PSS. Show I'm playing 3.5e FR, year 1373 DR, incorporating the stories of the BG and NWN series (changing timelines somewhat) into the overcampaign. The campaign is into its 2nd year (it began on October 25th, 2010) and the players (all of whom were D&D newbies at the beginning) are now quite experienced. If MT or someone else in the forums remembers me, thanks for all the input you guys gave me in year 2007-2008, as they were critical in forming up the overcampaign I'm running. For those whose memory serves only partially, I'm the guy who proposed a Caesar-esque interpretation of Tchazzar. And yes, I am very, very unhappy with how WotC made Tchazzar a total fool in 4e, and thus I rewrote the whole story, as is my perogative as a DM.
#2 Rils Nov 07, 2011 13:51:59	If you're talking 3e, starting with the Far Forest and moving southwest you've got the Far Forest, the Graypeak Mtns., the Delimbiyr River Vale, then the High Forest.  The area between the mtns and the High forest is called the "Night Gap".  This from the 3e sourcebook "The Silver Marches".  The map doesn't really show any mountains between the Far Forest and the Fallen Lands, unless it is just the trailing end of the Graypeaks...

I was refering to the world map that comes with... which rulebook was this? I think either FRCS or PGF, and judging by the state of the map I'd say PGF. There is a smaller, shorter range just north of the Night Gap, directly west of the Far Forest. If this doesn't exist in 3e maps, than I guess this really is supposed to be an extention of the Greypeaks. Thank you for your reply.
#4 Keith53 Nov 08, 2011 14:55:19	Interesting question.  The extension of the mountain range is shown on the oldest maps I can find, such as the Atlas from 1990.  Curiously the map with the closer view showed it as only being separated by the "High Pass," whereas the wider area map showed a much larger space between the mountains.  I would assume they are an extension of the Greypeaks.  No mention of a separate mountain range was described in the 1996 campaign expansion set, The North, Guide to the Savage Frontier.
