| #1anacreonMar 30, 2008 5:49:24 | Has there been any mention of Rashemen or the other parts of the Unapproachable East in regard to the spellplague and what followed? Are the Hathrans and Wizards of Thay still around, or have they been destroyed? |
| #2JudgeDookieMar 30, 2008 11:44:04 | I think a lot of that area is up in air for now. Thay has been in a civil war for the last ten years and we have yet to learn how that will turn out. If Szass Tam comes out the victor (and I assume he will), I think a lot of that area will fall under his control in some manner. And since Rashemen are considered little more than vermin to the Mulan of Thay, I wouldn't hold high hopes for them if Thay chooses to expand its borders. It looks like it will end up being the land of the dead at this point. |
| #3anacreonApr 01, 2008 5:51:26 | I don't think so. Thay has attempted to conquer Rashemen for centuries, and have suffered numerous ignominious defeats. Why would they succeed now? My question, however, was about the effects of the spellplague... |
| #4rauricApr 01, 2008 8:52:19 | Rash is a land of magical warriors and witches. If a magical plague hits them and their main defenders are using magic it doesn't look too good for them if someone decides to take some acres from them. No word on the actual effects though. The land has many spirits in it though and with screwy magic happening that may not be so good for the people of that land. |
| #5LOE_FreyApr 01, 2008 9:21:45 | I believe alot of the Red Wizards will have gone insane. They may be rebuilding now but how strongly is anyones guess. |

Cyric has looked to kill Mystra for years, as well.... As Rauric mentioned, the Spellplague can cause significant upheavals in things. If somebody uses it to their advantage, anything can transpire. But, sorry, no. I have nothing specific where it concerns the Spellplague. |

Come on, if the spellplague hits the Unapproachable East, Thay certainly won't benefit. |
| #8lobotaruApr 02, 2008 20:15:43 | I think in the preview for the setting given by Wizards, the Thaymount was elevated insanely high, and there are lots of earthmotes. Seems like Thay had quite a bit of geological upheaval due to the spellplague, so they were hit pretty hard. I don't think any of those nations are up to taking much of anything from any other nation at the moment. |

SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ UNDEAD ****************************************** Szass Tam has already summoned an army of undead, fought a civil war for ten years, conjured Bane to the material plane (while magic was going haywire), got into a cat fight with him, negotiated godlike power from him, laid his hands on a dream vestige, and ran the other zulkirs into hiding. Now, after that, he chose not to chase down the other zulkirs and have them murdered, but says it is now time for his "real work to begin." And he holds a tome he claims is "the boldest, most brilliant arcane treatise ever written...." I don't know. You get a real powerful lich wanting more power.... :evillaugh |

| #13netheresetheriseJan 22, 2009 0:02:27 | Cyric has looked to kill Mystra for years, as well.... Well, all I can say is thank goodness that the Spellplague had no impact (*cough*) on our flying Netherese cities of Shade or risen Sakkors. And by the way, I'd imagine that Imperial Thay and the Netherese Empire have a treaty of non-agression. Rashemen in 4E could be pretty interesting, having that big bloated undead Empire right next door... with no one to protect them, no one to run to... and their protective spirits long on the decline... :evillaugh |
| #14JudgeDookieJan 22, 2009 1:15:34 | Well, all I can say is thank goodness that the Spellplague had no impact (*cough*) on our flying Netherese cities of Shade or risen Sakkors. Did you just say that with a Southern accent? Cause that might just have sounded sexy. ![]() Otherwise... You sort of scare the hell out of me. ![]() |
| #15zananJan 22, 2009 7:34:20 | Well, I was surprised and disappointed that there was need to kill off the durthan from Rashemen. And while Thay was indeed changed quite a bit, if -as he did just before the Spellplague - he was able to march an undead army into other zulkirs' domains and chase them away, he should have a lean time chasing the witches out of Rashemen, earth spirits or not. It would be kind of surprising if Rashemen gets away unscathed when the Spellplagues happens by, while Thay is essentially turned on its head. But hey, you need as many points of light as you need points ... or rather seas of darkness. |
| #16rinonalyrna_fathomlinJan 22, 2009 9:51:00 | I also think there should always be some Durthan around. |
| #17lord_karsusJan 22, 2009 10:43:46 | I also think there should always be some Durthan around. -They were just introduced, so they should stick around. -Shadow Weave or not, evil or not, the Durthran represent a political philosophy that shouldn't go "out of style" in Rashemen: Stopping threats to Rashemen before they become threats, as opposed to after. |
| #1818DELTAJan 22, 2009 15:05:19 | -I agree the Durthran's should stick around in the 4E Realms. ![]() 18DELTA (CHOSEN OF CYRIC) :P |
