Rashemi names?

May 19, 2009 11:41:36 What sort of names do Rashemi have? I was thinking a basis on Russian/Slavic, but I thought I would ask.

Also, has the northern part of Rashemen ever been mapped in any detail?

May 19, 2009 11:45:57 3e's Unapproachable East and Races of Faerun cover this in some detail, though not as much as they could have. Generally, I found 2e's Spellbound much better in a lot of respects.

As to the names, Russian/Slavic is pretty close.

As to the maps, I don't recall any particularly exceptional ones... beyond those in 3e, but they weren't that great in Unapproachable East. Spellbound had pretty good maps as I recall, but I have no idea where you'd get your hands on them these days.

May 19, 2009 12:33:00 Page 12 FRCS is fairly telling for most human ethnicities per namesake globally. Beyond that, cannibalize the Hell out of any Eastern bloc or Russian movie, book, etc.

Rashemi

Male: Borivik, Faurgar, Jandar, Kanithar, Madislak, Ralmevik, Shaumar, Vladislak.

Female: Fyevarra, Hulmarra, Immith, Imzel, Navarra, Shevarra, Tammith, Yuldra.

Surnames: Chergoba, Dyernina, Iltazyara, Murnyethara, Stayanoga, Ulmokian.

some of these names have a slavic part, some not at all, damaran names are slavic

my suggestion for generating them is take a slavic name and then change 2 or three letters to sound more scandinavian

May 19, 2009 15:16:24 -The novels Windwalker, and Shield of Weeping Ghosts take place completely within Rashemen, and deal primarily with Rashemi individuals. Both have plenty of examples of names. The novel Bladesinger takes place in Rashemen, and has a Rashemi protagonist and antagonist, but mainly focuses on extra-Rashemi things.

-If you don't have Shield of Weeping Ghosts, which is, I think, the more useful of the two, let me know, and I'll go skimming for names.
