Ravenloft in the Vast swamp

I made the "Expediton to Ravenloft" adventure in the vast swamp, (East of Cormyr) a demiplane surrounded by mists like it was originally made.
I made the background that centuries ago the count was so evil, a dark lord, (Probably Nerull) ripped the entire land away and placed it in a nexus of demi-planes known as Ravenloft, thus leaving the land on Toril, where "Barovia" was located, a "Vast Swamp"
(Of course when Strahd is slain, the entire landscape will reappear back in the Vast Swamp)
I'm looking for other places in Faerun that this could've taken place; other lands where during the past the entire landscapes were drawn into the realm of ravenloft, leaving behind a swamp, or crator etc...
Any ideas?

-There are already a few canon connections between Ravenloft and Faerûn. For example, the Castle Spulzeer (Sp?) adventure ends with everyone going into Ravenloft (if the DM wants to).

-Anyway, I like your concept. Truthfully, any area devoid of much life (although, swamps are very full of life) can fit the bill.

If you can find a swamp or similar wasteland in Thay, Strahd's primary rival in second edition was Azalin, a red wizard Lich.

Azalin was a lich from Greyhawk, more specifically from Knurl (Bone March).
The Red Wizard was Hazlik, who ruled Hazlan. He never had anythign to do with Strahd.
Another Realms connection is Gondegal, who was trapped in Ravenloft and became a hero, fighting the darklord of Falkovnia, Vlad Drakov.

-And, of course, for mundane connections between the two, there is Jander Sunstar! And Lathander, kinda-sorta.
