An Alternate Solution

While Meldread's ironic post would seem to nominally be a solution, I'd like to put forward an alternate solution to the 'Shar Problem'. One which has worked previously, with another deity and her followers.

Complain!

After all, it would appear to work. However, one needs to know where to complain effectively. Well, firstly, you need to get your message through to the designers. For that, you have the stickied threads above asking for feedback. Use that!

That said, a letter is worth a thousand posts, so consider writing to

Wizards of the Coast
Attn Customer Service
PO Box 707
Renton, WA 98057-0707

Make sure to keep your complaints respectful and to the point. But get the complaints out there! After all, if it wasn't for constant years of complaints about Mystra, the Seven Sisters, Elminster etc, they would never have gotten rid of them (Or most of them). All the complaints led to the meme that those aspects were bad for the Realms, irregardless of the truth of the matter.

The designers had to agree with them on some level to have a compelling reason to change things as drastically as they did...

Having said that however, this is a constructive suggestion I'd wholeheartedly endorse.

-People need to let it go. I have better things to worry about. ;) I like Shar being the center of Attention. That means me and Lord Cyric can plot and scheme in the Shadows like she used to. When we off her then we will be all powerful. Until that is my usefulness to the Lord of Strife comes to an end. :P All for the glory of Cyric! :P

irregardless

Oh dear.

Usage Note: Irregardless is a word that many mistakenly believe to be correct usage in formal style, when in fact it is used chiefly in nonstandard speech or casual writing. Coined in the United States in the early 20th century, it has met with a blizzard of condemnation for being an improper yoking of irrespective and regardless and for the logical absurdity of combining the negative ir- prefix and -less suffix in a single term. Although one might reasonably argue that it is no different from words with redundant affixes like debone and unravel, it has been considered a blunder for decades and will probably continue to be so.

If they kill Shar off or depower her or something I don't really care. I'll just do a happy dance and ignore her anyway.

Hey go easy on Uzzy!

If it wasn't for GothicDan I would have never corrected my habbit of using irregardless. You'd think I'd have been more gratefull for it. (shakes head at self)

I'll just say that whether you (all of you) like or dislike the Realms, it's a very good idea to write them at the address Uzzy provided and tell them both the good and the bad on what you think about the Realms.

I've done it and so can you.

Just remember, be direct, stay on topic, check your spelling and be sure to thank them for reading your letter. Don't expect a response back or ask for one.

And feel free to write again, should the need arise.

Good on you Uzzy for bringing this up.

I find it difficult to believe that Aegeri isn't familiar with the old saying about grammar and spelling corrections... so cleaving to an optimistic interpretation, I'm going to presume it was meant as ironic and leave it at that...

Why bother any more?

So that WotC will produce products that I will want to buy once again?

No thanks... been there, done that.

There was a time I bought every single D&D (& TSR) product EVER produced, no matter how bad it was. Now I won't, no matter how good it is. Things have come full circle for me.

In fact, more and more, I'm having trouble justifying my presence on these boards anymore.

That's kinda my take on it--even if WotC "fixed" the role of Shar, the setting still isn't how I want it to be, so in the end it won't make much of a difference to me.
