I think Cyric needed Fzoul, Fzoul was a very influential figure in the church of Bane, so if Cyric had him on his side he could bring in more of the diehard banites. I believe Fzoul openly supported Cyric, up until 1368 DR when Fzoul stopped Cyrics plans of world domination by reading from the True Life of Cyric instead of the Cyrinishad, that information can be found in the novel Prince of Lies.

Its been a little while since ive read that one, Unfortuantly i lent it out and never saw that dude again, im gonna have to get another copy, and stop lending books out, i rent them out from now on.

But there where other forces at work there, but yeah Fzoul reading from that book definitely helped, thats also the point in time when Cyric broke the sword Godsbane, releasing the ghost of Kelemvor, who then kicked Cyrics butt and took the portfolio of Death from Cyric. So yeah Cyric got beat up by a dead guy! Oh the Shame!

They were uneasy allies up until 1368 DR. Cyric hated Fzoul, and Fzoul hated him but they still worked together for the betterment of the Black Network, and Fzoul was receiving spells from Cyric up until he read from the True Life of Cyric. Once Iyachtu Xvim was freed from his imprisonment beneath Zhentil Keep, Fzoul then converted over to the worship of Xvim. Its possible Fzoul was worshipping Xvim before that, but his spell were still coming from Cyric.

All the relevant information is found in the novel "Prince of Lies."
Cyric need Fzoul to keep control over the Zhentarim and also found intense enjoyment in taunting Fzoul and making his life hell as well as wanting Fzoul to be the first person to read the completed Cyrinshad.
But yes, Cyric allowed Fzoul to live and for his own twisted reasons.
Fzoul and Cyric openly despised one another, but Cyric cherished the psychological torture that he could inflict on Fzoul.

Its a great book. One of my favorites from the FR novels. I highly recommend it.

I thought it all started( the break up) because Fzoul didn't want to talk anymore...and just wanted sex.  This bothered Cyric so they broke up.  ;)

Cyric is not gay (not that theres anything wrong with it)! I however can not speak for Fzoul, with that mustache of his, hes always striked me as the type who enjoyed the "company" of young boys.

Yes, there's no way Cyric enjoys the company of young boys, he prefers them much older.
