I'm running a game wherein an NPC has been kidnapped and has been spirited away to Returned Abier. Where aould be a good spot in the continent for the PCs to A) find the missing NPC, B) Get involved in local drama and C) resolve said kidnapping and drama plots. Afterwords, they already plan on going to Waterdeep.

The PCs are at level 6, and I'd like to get the kidnapping aspect of the adventure done by the time they hit level 7. Any good ideas on locales? I was thinking Dusk Ports, but if anyone has any good hooks let me know.

Hello Arannis,

I would suggest the Dusk Ports in lieu of another spot, if only to use the city of Mreyelundar. Of all the cities that collectively make up the Dusk Ports, Mreyulundar is the most corrupt and lawless.

With this in mind Mreyelundar could be the immediate destination of the party, or it could be their final destination after tracking the NPC to Lylorn (best sailors in Abeir there, so if the kidnapping was by boat, you'd figure the crew that ran the kidnapper's ship came from there).

In Lylorn the PCs discover and follow a (false as it turns out) lead that the NPC was shipped off to Dusklan (lots of slaves and slavers there) to be sold into slavery.

In Dusklan the PCs confront the slaver that was to have bought the NPC, only to learn he reneged on the deal after he learned the Green Duchess has developed a taste for "flesh from afar" and so had the NPC shipped to Mreyelundar where the slaver hired someone to kidnap the NPC to begin with.

When pressed the slaver will say he doesn't want to risk even the remote possibility the Green Duchess could sense or know through her spies that the slaver keeps foreign slaves to himself instead of offering them up to the dragon. He hopes to have the dragon find the NPC with the chief kidnapper so the dragon will blame that person for disloyalty, eat the kidnapper and the NPC and with their deaths remove any possibility of the dragon learning that the slaver ever had anything to do with the whole sordid affair.

Then the PCs get word that the Green Duchess is on the wing and approaching, so they must outrace the dragon to Mreyelundar and free the NPC from whomever is keeping him/her before the dragon arrives to take its fill of flesh.
