| #1paulstraitAug 08, 2011 1:40:57 | In my campaign, the PCs are gunning for the princes of Shade, and they just killed Melegaunt Tanthul (I'm aware that Wulgreth killed him -- in my campaign he was raised). On him they found the following ring: Ring of the Prince of Shade This smoky obsidian ring, bearing the royal seal of Thultanthar, envelops you in shadows, making you difficult to discern. Property: Gain concealment. Property: Gain a +5 bonus to all charisma-based skill checks when dealing with any of your subjects (that is, creatures with the 'shadow' keyword or citizens of Netheril or one of its vassal states, e.g., Sembia). Power (At will): Standard Action. Use any teleportation circle to return to Shade Enclave. Power (Encounter): Kneel Before Your Lord -- Charm, Psychic -- Standard Action, Close Blast 10. Target: Each of your subjects (defined above) that you can see. Charisma vs. Will. Hit: 1d6 + Charisma modifier psychic damage, and target is prone. Power (Daily): Minor Action. Gain total concealment until the end of your next turn. As you might notice, I modified the "Shadow Band" from the AV. As the party kills more princes, they will find more rings. I'd like them to be roughly similar, but each have their own distinctive powers. Any ideas, specific or general, or even just a critique or thought about this particular item, are very welcome! |

Go to www.livingforgottenrealms.com and find the NETH3-1, NETH3-2, and NETH3-3 adventures. Download those (it's all free) and check out the story awards at the end. NETH3-3 has an upgraded reward from the other two, and the storyline interactions may be handy if you're considering having your PCs gunning for the Shade Princes. Show We had the PCs in a position to make a terribly difficult and important choice in 3-3, and the PCs made the choice we expected them to make - to kill a Prince. The results have yet to be realized, but I expect they'll be brought to light in Q1 2012. ;) |
