(FYI: This is a Living Forgotten Realms Character) Prometheus - In ancient Narfel a young tribal man killed a town elder during a Demonbinding ceremony. In this way he stole power from Asmodeus, who punished him by making him age thrice as fast as the rest of the world. The man pleaded for Asmodeus to grant him immortality. The Demon had the man kill 100 innocent souls, but the man was tricked. After completing his vile task, the mans soul was forced into a metal shell. He spent countless eons trapped beneath the icy plains of Narfel. Now, fate has freed him. Asmodeus has promised the man a mortal life if he can bring the souls of 1,000 evil men to his realm. |

And in D&D, Devils and Demons are very, very different beings...in fact, they hate each other with a passion, and are locked in a never ending war with each other. So...you might want to rephrase a couple of things in your story. |

| #5GrummanDec 18, 2008 14:55:08 | If it was an Eberron character, I'd suggest the possibility of making the warlock's powers the result of binding a fire elemental into the warforged, with the obvious goal of making a better weapon for the battlefield. |

The power that coursed through his body slowly caused it to rot while he was still living. To avoid the enviable result of this he build himself a new body and transfered his soul into it before he past from this world. |
| #7bkruegDec 19, 2008 10:05:03 | If you have a good idea for a warforged background, please let me know... Kovarn was not like the others. He somehow felt incomplete almost like they'd left something out of his construction. After a while he figured it must have something to do with the artificial construction of his race. Later still he hypothesized that it had something to do with a lack of anima or soul that had been imbued within him. The books he read in his master's library suggested strange occult rituals he could perform in order to take another soul into his own body. From that day form Kovarn was an infernal warlock, offering the soul he thought he didn't have as recompense. Working off of this assumption he confronted his master and slew him in cold blood. The results were minimal at best. He thought it would be best to seek out other arcane adepts in the world, asking for their help, or taking it, as he deemed fit. He even heard of an unforgivable ritual that could let you live forever.... So what I am proposing is a Warforged Infernalock heading towards Life-Stealer and then trying to learn the ritual to become a lich. Obviously he's pretty evil and more than a little mistaken in his choice of bettering himself through stealing other people's life-force. BUT imagine how cool it would be to see a Warforged lich. |
| #8klaser84Dec 19, 2008 11:10:37 | Good stuff. I like the idea of having him build his own warforged body. Also, I'll make him a robot if I want. ![]() |
| #9blackmasqueDec 26, 2008 23:06:25 | Why would he help Asmodeus if Asmodeus already screwed him once? |
| #10humbleapostleDec 28, 2008 12:25:22 | Some people never learn? And while devils tend to screw you one way or the other, you WILL get whats on the contract. Just make sure you READ THE FINE PRINT! :P |
| #11matteblackDec 28, 2008 15:18:37 | My warforged infernal warlock is not so dissimilar. He is a former human paladin of Sune who has awoke/activated in Narfell(yeah, endurance bonus!) as well. I have played him thus far as a hell-powered machine with a curious penchant for fighting for good who is slowly finding himself with strange memory fragments of appreciation of romance and the finer things in life. Recently (6th level and multiclass paladin), he has began to manifest some paladin abilities as the infernal flame inscriptions along his body have begun to take on more of a Sune-like motif depicting her fiery hair. He doesn't realize his past yet but, exposure to Sune's inspirations tend to lead him deeper into his past. I am intending on taking Heartwarder as his paragon class but, we'll see how the story develops. In my story, he has been entombed in his artificial body by a villain who was disrupted and enraged by the incursion into the evil secret lair as a punishment that detaches him from his humanity. |
