Unfortunately i run across a problem that has totally stop me. My party killed a normal citizen in Neverwinter city. I had to stop the game session there cause i haven't found what are the law, rules, constitutions, statute of Neverwinter. I have only understand that is fairly ruled by Lord Nasher but how murders, thefts and other common crimes are deal isn't describe anywhere. My question is: Wich available manuals describe the rules of the citis in Faerun (and in particular Neverwinter), and also, is there a common law for all the citis of a region like the Sword Coast North ![]() Thanks in advice, Regards, Leet! |

I don't think specific laws have ever been giving out for any cities/kingdoms, except maybe for Waterdeep, Ravens Bluff and Cormyr. You can guess pretty well what the justice system would be based on the place's character. Neverwinter is ruled by a LG Fighter, and has a sizeable temple to Tyr, so you can expect a good emphasis on law, order and justice, with a good bent. (On the other hand, Luskan is a corrupt torture-fest, according to RAS.) Volo's Guide offers this: "...the Hall of Justice, a powerful temple of Tyr. Reverend Judge Oleff Uskar presides over Lord Nasher's civil court here. This is low justice; nobles, those accused of murder or other serious crimes, and noncitizens can all apply to the high justice of the lord himself." So, the PCs can apply to Nasher and plead their case. |

It has a pretty workable legal system for Waterdeep, which shouldn't have too much trouble being transplanted to almost any city in the Lord's Alliance, and at least give an idea of how a different system might be structured. Should be around $4 or so at places like Paizo or DrivethruRPG. |
