| #1unicornqueenApr 06, 2008 6:23:36 | With all the previews I've read with the Faerun getting alot darker than before, Is there any place would you call a "Safe Haven" for wound or resting character now? I know that not ALL places from before weren't safe but you could count on Waterdeep to be one of them. ![]() |
| #2JudgeDookieApr 06, 2008 11:06:41 | I think much of that is still up in the air. For now, we know that most of the Sword Coast was left unscathed, so I imagine that area is as "safe" as it once was. |
| #3sataApr 06, 2008 13:52:49 | Concerning The Sword Coast, in a web article, they've mentioned that nothing too drastic happened in the area or The Western Heartlands but a few things did happened so in consequence, now the city of Baldur's Gate is even bigger than it was and is used as a haven for the common men. Also, you can always count on Evermeet and Silverymoon (amongst others cities as such), they've mentioned that those places with a mythal weren't affected much. |
| #4-basketball-Apr 06, 2008 14:26:04 | With all the previews I've read with the Faerun getting alot darker than before, Is there any place would you call a "Safe Haven" for wound or resting character now? I think that since Myth-Drannor was reclaimed towards the end of the 3rd edition Realms and the centuries-long lifespan of the Elves who will presumably still be keeping it clear and safe, the Dalelands in the 4th Realms edition will act as a "Safe Haven" for folks to dwell in. |
| #5lord_karsusApr 07, 2008 2:20:08 | -How do you want to define "safe haven"? A place where PCs can be in a safe place or a place that was left (mostly) as it was during the 100-year jump, and the transition to 4e? Some places from the first category might be a safe place for PCs, but changed, and other might be unchanged, but not safe for PCs. |

| #7-basketball-Apr 07, 2008 8:15:51 | Question: How do you want to define "safe haven"? Where after a ride(10 days)or so, the place is over run with undead or demons i.e. like Zhentil Keep. Hmm.. you may want to redefine that. |
| #8Dark_Wizard_02Apr 08, 2008 0:14:17 | It seems like the setting has several very bright elements to it, perhaps even more than early 3e FR had. I don't think it is any more or less dark, just a lot of good marketing by the Shades. Those damn Shades and their shadowy illusions. |
| #9lord_karsusApr 08, 2008 0:51:27 | Where after a ride(10 days)or so, the place is over run with undead or demons i.e. like Zhentil Keep. -Alright, in a literal sense, then. Well, you are going to have to wait for the 4e FRCS, then, to get an exact answer. |

| #13lord_karsusApr 08, 2008 6:56:14 | Many of your wounds may heal up in a day or two of rest it seems in 4E. -Really? Is 4e going to be instituting a 'Vitality Point' system, like Star Wars? |
| #14-basketball-Apr 08, 2008 8:16:53 | Many of your wounds may heal up in a day or two of rest it seems in 4E. Yeah, the healing system got completely reworked for all the classes - especially the martial ones. They are able to heal even in-combat now. That's what you get by reading many "Fighters and Martial Classes suck" and "CoDzillas" threads. ;) |
| #15lord_karsusApr 08, 2008 8:22:59 | They are able to heal even in-combat now. -I know that much. Healing "Winds", or some such. |

Well, in the context as I have it, you asked if he mattered when answering a question. My personal opinion...? Eh. Sometimes he matters, sometimes he don't. Perhaps I'm just prejudice. ;)
This is Karsus. What do you expect, man!! I imagine if he had this board all to himself, he'd still be posting. Yeah, baby! ![]() |

I don't know how he behaves. But if you say that he posts so often, what's the problem in answering a question then? |
| #30JudgeDookieApr 08, 2008 12:28:32 | I asked if he mattered *answering* a question. Then the proper way to phrase this would be: "Does it matter if you answer a question?" Otherwise, you are suggesting his opinion isn't worth anything or that nobody cares about it in the first place. ![]() I don't know who "Karsus" is. I don't know how he behaves. Just stick around. Only in depth experience will tell the tale for you. Karsus is like a puzzle, wrapped in an enigma, stuffed in a twinke, then fed to a fat kid. You try to figure him out, think he's going down one way of the tunnel, then pops out the other end. It is simply a road you don't want to follow. :D |
| #31lord_karsusApr 08, 2008 16:26:12 | Since you said that your answer to my question "depends on who is listening" without knowing me. -You asked if I mattered when asking a question. That's the "do you matter answering a question" part. Thus, the fact of the matter is that what I say matters is entirely dependent on the listener. If they want to hear what I say, then I do matter. If they don't, then I don't. Thus, whether or not I matter depends on who is listening. |
| #32daenaanApr 08, 2008 23:58:36 | ...Just stick around. Only in depth experience will tell the tale for you. Karsus is like a puzzle, wrapped in an enigma, stuffed in a twinke, then fed to a fat kid. (...) Damnit! Why does the fat kid get to Bogart all the good snacks?!? ![]() |

| #42-basketball-Apr 10, 2008 14:58:25 | Um, no. Not so much. That's why I italicized the word "it." It makes all the difference. So do you disregard it or tacitly agree with it? ;) |
| #44JudgeDookieApr 10, 2008 16:37:07 | Why is it so different that the two questions can't be perceived in the same manner, judge? Ok. Let me see if I can try and explain this properly. ![]() You asked the following: "Again, do you matter answering a question?" If you recall, I was doing this in response: (And, dude, I'm still giggling when I read it.)This is because I thought you had made a witty little stab at Karsus. Unfortunately, you unwittingly framed your question in the wrong context. The key here is using the word "you." Doing this makes Karsus the subject of the sentence. Therefore, the rest of it applies to him, as well. This essentially conveys this: "If you answered a question, would it matter?" Which, in turn, conveys--through sarcasm--that his opinion doesn't matter. Or, if you wanted to take it completely literal, you would be asking him a yes or no question concerning whether he thought his opinion mattered. We lost yet? Since your original intent was to ask if he had problems or issues with answering a question, you would want to use the word "it." It would then become the subject of the sentence, diverting the what mattered portion of the sentence away from Karsus, himself, and to the whatever it may be that had prevented Karsus from answering the question. Make any sense? And what does, ehm, "buttergut" have to do with Karsus being eaten by fat kids? In an effort to keep this post PG-13, I cannot answer this question. ;) |
| #45-basketball-Apr 10, 2008 17:04:39 | Ok. Let me see if I can try and explain this properly. No. Let *me* get this straight. Karsus answered to a question of mine with this line: "Does it *really* matter?" This means that he himself belittled the value of his answer (or the answers he generally gives (in my view) since I don't know him). To which, wanting to clarify if he indeed meant what he said about his hypothetical answer, I then replied: "Do you matter answering a question?". Just like you said in the above paragraph I wanted him to explain to me if he indeed believed that "if he (Karsus) answered a question, would it matter?" And I said this, again, because Karsus himself questioned the value of his opinion with the first reply of his. Perhaps, to make it more clear, I should have replied him this way instead: Basketball: What do you think of the new healing system? Karsus: Does it really matter? Basketball: Why, you don't think that your opinion matters? We found yet? Since your original intent was to ask if he had problems or issues with answering a question... No, that was not my original intent. My original intent was what I wrote above. The confusion was given birth from the fact that I earlier replied to you by saying that whether I had written "Does it matter if you answer a question?" instead of "Do you matter answering a question" would have been the same thing. We there yet? In an effort to keep this post PG-13, I cannot answer this question. ;) You naughty dookie little judge, you! :D :D |
| #46JudgeDookieApr 10, 2008 17:45:57 | No. Um...no. :D First off, let me assure you that I wasn't implying you were stupid in anyway. I was seriously unsure if I was explaining myself properly and not just being confusing. That said, assuming you really meant what you said, then please explain this: "Are you being prejudiced towards someone you don't know?" This is where Karsus and I ended up at point Q. By your previous post, you just clarified that you were asking if he mattered. Then the next post, you turn it around and ask him if he thinks someone else doesn't matter. This is where we got lost and had to return to what you previously said to try and find the connection. Alas, we didn't find one and you and I now sit here debating the verabge of the boards trying to come to a conclusion of what was actually said and what was not. ;) |
| #47-basketball-Apr 10, 2008 18:12:50 | Um...no. :D Why? I think I made everything clear with my previous post. First off, let me assure you that I wasn't implying you were stupid in anyway. I never thought you did. If anything, it is I who should be assuring you of this since it was *you* the one caught clueless in the middle. ;) That said, assuming you really meant what you said, then please explain this: "Are you being prejudiced towards someone you don't know?" Sure. (I shall repeat myself though). Karsus did understand and grasped correctly what I really meant with my answer to which he sequentially replied: Karsus: "That (the value of Karsus' opinion) entirely depends on who is listening to the answer." The fact that he still didn't reply to my first question (about the new healing system) made me believe that he took me as one that would question the value of his opinion or that I would say that "it didn't really matter whether he would give one or not", without him actually knowing if I would behave in that way. That's why I told him that he was being prejudiced towards me. What's more, these are Karsus' words: the fact is that "what I say matters" is entirely dependent on the listener. If they want to hear what I say, then I do matter. If they don't, then I don't. Thus, whether or not I matter depends on who is listening. So, who told him that I wouldn't hear him out? Who told him that I would make him "not matter" by not listening to his opinion? Still, if it confuses you, leave the "prejudice" thing out. The fact is that I wanted him to explain to me if he indeed believed that "if he (Karsus) answered a question, would it matter?" And I said this, again, because Karsus himself questioned the value of his opinion with the first reply of his. We there yet? We clear yet? :D ... and I now sit here debating the verabge of the boards trying to come to a conclusion of what was actually said and what was not. ;) Yeah, whilst we could concern ourselves with more important things such as going at a bar so we could exchange some info regarding setting-up with ladies & lonely girls sitting at the next table. ![]() |
| #48JudgeDookieApr 10, 2008 18:32:23 | Why? I think I made everything clear with my previous post. Obviously not, or I wouldn't have asked for a rebuttal, now would have I? ![]() I never thought you did. If anything, it is I who should be assuring you of this since it was *you* the one caught clueless in the middle. ;) Um, dude...when everyone is left clueless but yourself, then you might just want to consider that you may be living outside sanity's walls. :D Karsus did understand and grasped correctly what I really meant with my answer to which he sequentially replied: And this, my friend, is where the translation got lost. You went from speaking in general, to referring to just yourself. I can see exactly how the conversation would have went to you--and understand where you were coming from now--but, I would see it being expressed better if it was actually a one-on-one, real life conversation. When you have to pause in a post, then wait for a reply to make an exchange, some things get lost from tme-to-time. As it did here, it seems. Either way, we're there. And I'm never taking a trip with you again. ;) |
| #49-basketball-Apr 10, 2008 18:51:06 | Obviously not, or I wouldn't have asked for a rebuttal, now would have I? How do I know what's going on in your mind? Um, dude...when everyone is left clueless but yourself, then you might just want to consider that you may be living outside sanity's walls. Sanity's walls? What does "living outside sanity's walls" has to do with someone who is just caught clueless inside a discussion? That fact surely doesn't mean that he "is living outside sanity's walls". Are you sure you 're sane by exagerating that much? ;) Karsus seems to have understood exactly what I said since the very beginning. And this, my friend, is where the translation got lost. I was still speaking in general, actually. When I told him that he was being prejudiced towards a stranger, this is still a general statement. With his answer he made *me* believe that he took me as one that would question the value of his opinion, but anybody else could have been in my place. Either way, we 're there. ![]() And I'm never taking a trip with you again. ;) Ok, leave tripping on these forums out, but you 're still gonna join me at a bar so we could exchange some info regarding setting-up with ladies & lonely girls sitting at the next table. |

I don't know. You now seem to be as hardheaded as Karsus. The fact that I have to swallow my pride to keep rebuking you doesn't sit well with me. ![]() I'm gonna spend some to with the Bejebuz, drink a few beers, then get back to you on this invitation. | #54-basketball-Apr 11, 2008 8:07:29 | -Basketball, what you are saying makes little sense, in the context of the exchanges: It's funny that you say that what I say makes "little sense", since by reading your post you seem to got only some portions of it right. Thus what *you* did comprehend was not very much. Let's review the whole thing again, shall we? (and BTW, I put "explanation" under the quotes instead of the "translation" that you did - unless of course you were speaking and comprehending another language.) Basketball: So do you like the new healing system? Explanation: So do you like the new healing system? Karsus: Does it really matter? Explanation:Is my opinion on the issue of any importance? Basketball: Answering a question? Explanation: Are you saying that answering a question is of no importance? Karsus: No, my opinion on the matter. Explanation: No, (correcting Basketball) is my opinion on the issue of any importance? Basketball: Again, do you matter answering a question? Explanation: You don't think that what you say matters when you answer a question? Karsus: That entirely depends on who is listening to the answer. Explanation:Whether what I say matters or not depends on who is listening to what I am saying. Basketball: Are you being prejudiced towards someone you don't know? Explanation: And how would you know that I would care or not about your opinion since you didn't even reply? Does someone after asking you a question has to also clarify whether what you say will matter or not to him and thus making your opinion matter or not? Karsus: How did you arrive at that conclusion? Translation: What made you think what you do? Basketbal: Since you said that the value of your opinion (a.k.a if what you say matters or not) depends solely on who is listening to it. Translation: (There's no need here) -All that said, Basketball, you are asking if I matter. What a relief... you grasped it... -I then told you that what I think on the issue matters only if those who I am talking to are willing to listen to what I have to say or not. So you 're saying that whether your opinion matters or not (a.k.a if it has any importance at all) has only got to do with whether your audience will hear you out or not. And who told you that I wouldn't hear you out? -As Dookie said: Leave Dookie outside this discussion. This is just between you and me. So read my text below and tell me what is it that you didn't understand: You answered to a question of mine with this line: "Does it *really* matter?" This means that you yourself belittled the value of your answer (or the answers you generally give (in my view) since I don't know you). To which, wanting to clarify if you indeed meant what you said about your hypothetical answer, I then replied: "Do you matter answering a question?". Just like Dookie said in the above paragraph I wanted you to explain to me if you indeed believed that "if you (Karsus) answered a question, would it matter?" And I said this, again, because you yourself questioned the value of your opinion with the first reply of yours. Perhaps, to make it more clear, I should have replied you this way instead: Basketball: What do you think of the new healing system? Karsus: Does it really matter? Basketball: Why, you don't think that your opinion matters? [...] Now, regarding the "prejudice part" You did understand and grasped correctly what I really meant with my answer to which you sequentially replied: Karsus: "That (the value of Karsus' opinion) entirely depends on who is listening to the answer." The fact that you still didn't reply to my first question (about the new healing system) made me believe that you took me as one that would question the value of your opinion or that I would say that "it didn't really matter whether you would give one or not", without you actually knowing if I would behave in that way. If they want to hear what I say, then I do matter. If they don't, then I don't. Thus, whether or not I matter depends on who is listening. So, who told you that I wouldn't hear you out? Who told you that I would make you "not matter" by not listening to your opinion? Still, if it confuses you, leave the "prejudice" thing out. Overall, I wanted you to explain to me if you indeed believed that "if you (Karsus) answered a question, would it matter?" And I said this, again, because you yourself questioned the value of your opinion with the very first reply of yours. -Indeed, and there'd then be a lot less confusion abound. Now, are we all on the same page? There 'd be a lot less confusion if you had straight up answered my question without questioning whether I 'd listen to you or not and then avoiding to argue about semantics all the way down without any result. That's the kind of behavior that dumbass elitists exhibit (I want to believe that you 're not one of them). |
| #55lord_karsusApr 11, 2008 8:18:39 | So, who told him that I wouldn't hear him out? Who told him that I would make him "not matter" by not listening to his opinion? -One person: You. Where did you get that I felt you wouldn't "hear me out"? Saying "it depends on who is listening to the answer" is, in no way, an attack on your character, or anybody elses' character. It's silly to interpret it that way. -In fact, in general, you now make me laugh, which is probably a good thing. |
| #56-basketball-Apr 11, 2008 8:26:46 | Question:Who told you that I would make you "not matter" by not listening to your opinion? Answer: -One person: You. ![]() Care to show me where was it that I gave you that impression? -Where did you get that I felt you wouldn't "hear me out"? Ehm,.. from the fact that you replied to me in this way perhaps? Karsus: That (whether Karsus' answer matters or not) entirely depends on who is listening to the answer. (Oh, and you now did confirm it with your previous quote too) I 've repeated it... what? -twenty times as of now? -It's silly to interpret it that way. It's silly not to give a straight answer to a simple question thus causing all this mess. -In fact, in general, you now make me laugh. I started laughing at you way many posts before... so there. |
| #57-basketball-Apr 11, 2008 8:39:47 | I don't know. You now seem to be as hardheaded as Karsus. God forbid! The fact that I have to swallow my pride to keep rebuking you doesn't sit well with me. Ok. We still cool. ![]() I'm gonna spend some to with the Bejebuz, drink a few beers, then get back to you on this invitation. Because, as it stands, we'll probably focus too much over a few beers on what chick said what to whom than actually focusing on the women themselves. ;) No. Please don't tell me that I made you think that we 'll focus so much on what the chicks said and meant instead than focusing on them themselves. ![]() |
| #58-basketball-Apr 11, 2008 8:48:51 | @ Lord Karsus: Look: Let's drop this whole issue. I asked you a question, you didn't want to reply. Fine. You 're not obliged to reply to questions you don't feel like replying to. Just be sure to make it clear instead of saying things like "does my answer really matters?" I 'm here to discuss and learn about the Forgotten Realms. Everything else is off topic. So cheers. |
| #59lord_karsusApr 11, 2008 9:33:33 | Look: Let's drop this whole issue. -Indeed. It's too early, and I'm too tired and hungry to be fighting on multiple fronts. |
| #60JudgeDookieApr 11, 2008 11:58:22 | I'm throwing this case out of my damn courtroom!! ![]() I can't believe I came back to this crap after settling it last night. ![]() I want this entire proceeding to be stricken from the records. ![]() ![]() Court dismissed. ![]() |
| #61-basketball-Apr 11, 2008 14:10:11 | I can't believe I came back to this crap after settling it last night. Ah, but it wasn't necessary that you entered this discussion from the very beginning. And now you call it "crap" eventhough you had a part in it. ![]() |
| #62JudgeDookieApr 11, 2008 14:51:51 | Ah, but it wasn't necessary that you entered this discussion from the very beginning. Court. Is. Adjourned. ![]() |
| #63woobyluvApr 14, 2008 19:01:23 | @ Lord Karsus: Dude, please don't take this the wrong way... The phrasing of your question to LK was ambiguous at best and downright misleading at worst. He answered your question as best he could given the context of your statements. You on the other hand insist upon being offended by his remarks and took everything said at that point completely out of context. Not a single post you have made in this thread since has done anything to clear the matter and has only been a counter attack against an imagined attack. Instead of getting all bent out of shape about the question you asked, try rephrasing it so that it won't be misinterpreted. Now with that said, this is not an attack on you, just some friendly advice to assist with the future. ![]() |
| #64JudgeDookieApr 14, 2008 19:14:17 | Dude, please don't take this the wrong way... Woobyluv, I know we have an unstoppable army now, and be assured that I appreciate your input--as probably does LK. But I don't want to waste any of our sharks or monkeys on this battle front anymore. We've already "crushed" Daenann with walls of text, so I would like to prevent any other innocent casualties from occurring. Especially you. What will I do without your sharks with Lay-ZUURZ if you get crushed, too? ![]() Just aint worth it. |

| #68JudgeDookieApr 15, 2008 14:49:25 | Very well, the cat is out of the bag I guess What a glorious idea!! ![]() Now, if my ongoing corruption of the care bears would come to fruition we could finally set our plans in motion for world domination. ![]() |

| #70JudgeDookieApr 15, 2008 15:49:11 | So wrong... Isn't it though? Anybody with a brain knows that there is only one smurfette. And we all know she's already got freaky-deaky with every smurf in town. ![]() Gullible little dopes. |
