You mean there was an official source with the sava rules? I'd doubt that.

Jun 24, 2008 9:16:29 Almost every fantasy world seems to have a chess variant that is supposedly much harder than chess and only played by few people who can master it. Imo it has gotten lame by now . . .

No I mean there was a thread a while ago about the rules, and I was wondering where that thread went. I know that Wizards of the Coast didnt release it (Although they should), but some players speculated the rules, and I was wondering if they might be posted here

So he either doesn't know or hasn't seen my question due to all the other clutter in the thread. Or he is just ignoring me, which wouldn't surprise me either hehe. :angelhide

I'd like to see rules or a separate product released for Sava. It sounds like a really interesting game to me. All my friends that play D&D and some that don't are intrigued by such a game as well. I personally think it would sell fairly well. Market it in outlets such as toy stores, FLGS, and other niche hobby stores, or even the occasional big book store franchises and it could be a good seller. Just my opinion of course.

Maybe there was one pre board restructuring and it got chucked as it was on page 18 of the old Forgotten Realms General board or something.

-Don't recall anything like that. The fact that, as wooby said, people are (constantly) asking for rules to how the game is actually played says to me that we don't know.

Based on what I remember, the game was on a chess board basically, and the pieces were (In order of Importance) Slave, Warrior, Wizard, Priestess, and Mother. Something like 2/8 of the board (One on each side) was the player's house, where the mother started.

I don't know how movement works, and I know that any piece can take be taken by another opposing piece (As Eilistrae demonstrated by having Q'arlynd take Kiarlansee's mother piece), regardless of rank. If the player loses his/her other mother piece, then they lose, and if the table is disrupted by a player, that player loses (Dissolution)

Once/game a player may throw 2d6. If the result is snake eyes, then the opposing player can move an enemies' piece to take an ally (As Eilistrae moved Halisstra to take Selvetarm, and Llolth used Qilue to take Cavatina)

I think that that is how it works. I just need to clarify movement and the board.

Jun 24, 2008 19:19:41 I think it would be a fun idea for the board to look like two opposing webs, rather like two chessboards overlaying each other slightly, where both are turned on a diagonal (i.e. two overlaying diamonds, rather than a square gameboard). Place the mother piece in the center of each "web", and the other pieces around her for protection. :D

Jun 24, 2008 19:28:00 I think the board is much more dynamic than a chess board portrays seeing as Kiaransalee was able to join the game in progress, spreading her pieces amongst the other 2 players pieces. Personally I see the board more as a large circle with lines in all directions connecting to each node, much like a web, making it possible to have more than 2 players.

It was probably a year or so ago now I suppose, but it did resurface for one post not long ago.

I think I finally deleted the pics and rules though, figuring that the interest was gone.
