[color=Blue]Can someone tell if Selune and the Shards survive 4e??

Also I can't find much info of the Shards or the Slivers.

I'd like to play a half human/Shard character but i'm stuck.

-The odds of Selûne surviving into 4e are fairly high, especially since Rich Baker has stated that Selûne will be a 'Greater Deity' in 4e.

The slivers, feminine spirits made of moonlight and flame, are fully statted in Dragon #353. The shards, who closely resemble the slivers in appearances, are planetars statistically.

I don't think there will be planetars as such in 4e, since they're rebooting the angels conceptually, but I'm sure there will be something similar in power level to represent shards, and possibly weaker minor angels to use as slivers.

Shar's plan to axe Mystra should've included dealing with Selune as well... Permanently!!!

It occurs to me that Shar as a super evil god opposed by several weaker good gods who have to stay on top of their game or risk losing out, might have been an interesting idea.

I think Selune is the ONLY god to stand up to Shar.

-Third Edition focused too much on the Mystra-Shar, Weave-Shadow Weave conflict, and not enough on the real conflict, the major conflict, the Shar-Selûne conflict.

Absolutely, guess they kinda forgot who created who.

They misused Mystra and Shar, admitted the Shadow Weave part was a bad idea, then used that misuse as a "reason" to get rid of Mystra ("Time to move on and tell new stories about Shar")!

-It is likely that 4e will focus, now, on the Selûne-Shar conflict, as both are now Greater Deities, and there is no more Shadow Weave to complicate things (though, there is a 'Shadow Power Source', so we are really trading six of one thing for a half-dozen of another).

-I don't think that the Shadow Weave was the sole reason Mystra was eliminated. While the Weave-Shadow Weave conflict certainly give Mystra that much more "air time", complaints about Mystra already existed, so I hear, some before the debut of 3e and the Shadow Weave. Her "problematic" characteristics and traits already existed.

I'm thinking Aumanator vs Shar in 4e - the whole 'Light vs Darkness' thing is SO cliché that you just KNOW they will use it.

Why else remake Lathander, unless they needed to? It makes sense that they needed a nigh-omnipotent "Shining Beacon of Light" to represent all the goodness in the world. They'll do a 'Dawn Cataclysm' part deux, just to counter Shar's 'Steamroller of Evil', and the whole thing will be so black & white it will put us all to sleep.

They want to eliminate evil vs evil, and good v. good, so we are not likely to see a Moon Goddes up against the Night goddess, it just wouldn't make sense with everything else they've done. They don't want any shades of grey.

This is no longer a thinking man's game - the bad guys wear Black hats, plain and simple.

Its utter cr@p, as far as I'm concerned, but thats where I predict 4e FR is headed.

Will I'd TRYED to understand about 4e, that it's ALOT darker out there in Faerun, so they need a powerful Bright God/ess to give any kind of hope. I hope its not Lathander.

Indeed, how could I forget that little bit.

-Funny thing is, going by the 'old' Amaunator, he's not even 'Good'. He's 'Lawful Neutral'.

-Lathander is not going to exist in 4e. Rich Baker has stated that the Tri-Partite Sun entity will be assuming the guise/form of Amaunator in the 4e Forgotten Realms.

So its the boys against the girls again.

Why is there always a evil female "dark" Goddess against a good "sun" God.

-Because Shar happens to wear the guise of a woman, and Lathander/Amaunator the guise of a man. There are plenty of non-good male deities (Mask, Talos), and there are plenty of non-evil female deities (Sune, Red Knight).

What I mean is the the Greater "Sun or Light" Gods is nearly always male and the darker one is female.

-It's a massive sexist conspiracy. Eh, what can I tell you? A 'benevolent sun king' is a common archetype. As is a 'dark, evil mistress'.

-Ones who want more female benevolent sun deities, and more male malevolent shadow deities, anyway.
