| #118DELTAJun 08, 2010 9:05:54 | Erik mentioned in his thread at www.candlekeep.com that a novel called Shadowbane is coming in the Fall of 2011.![]() Why not fall of 2010? ![]() Hopefully Foxy will be in it somewhere. ![]() |
| #2eriksdbJun 08, 2010 9:13:36 | Alas, there are only so many slots in a schedule. Also, I should clarify that "Shadowbane" is the working title--it might change between now and then. But for those familiar with Downshadow, that gives a pretty clear indication of the content. ![]() Cheers |
| #3LordManshoonJun 08, 2010 11:13:55 | Oh good. My wish came true. Now all I need do is bear the excruciating wait. On another note, I don't suppose Shadowbane is the first in a new trilogy, by any chance? ![]() |
| #4eriksdbJun 08, 2010 11:22:07 | On another note, I don't suppose Shadowbane is the first in a new trilogy, by any chance? Assuming all goes well (i.e., sales figures pan out, story demonstrates its popularity, etc) this is to be the start of a series, indeed. More on the exact plan as details emerge. Thank you for your guys' support over the years. It's proved very, very important to the whole process! (Also, keep it up, pls!) Cheers |
| #518DELTAJun 08, 2010 11:43:15 | Now all I need do is bear the excruciating wait. Just abuse your Zhentarim Underlings to pass the time... ![]() |
| #6suin_bahhar_02Jun 08, 2010 12:27:41 | Looking forward to seeing some of the support characters around Kalen, besides the excellent Shadowbane we have some really interresting figures to learn more about. Rath and Fayne in particular. Great news indeed. |
| #7DoctorBadWolfJun 08, 2010 22:25:36 | Shiny. |
| #8Nai_CalusJun 09, 2010 0:20:27 | Sparkly. But not in a vampire way.
Now, to get a keylogger snuck onto Erik's computer.... |
| #918DELTAAug 15, 2011 3:43:38 | It's getting closer...![]() |
| #10eriksdbAug 15, 2011 9:27:25 | Indeed it is, 18D. Indeed. ![]() Cheers |
| #11The_SilverswordAug 16, 2011 7:10:04 | Its an Abyssal Plague novel!? Somehow I missed that. So does this mean im going to have to go out and read all the other Abyssal Plague novels first? |
| #1218DELTAAug 16, 2011 8:56:52 | That might help. Plus I want you to read those novels anyway...![]() |
| #13eriksdbAug 16, 2011 9:56:43 | Its an Abyssal Plague novel!? Somehow I missed that. Yes and no. It is tied to the Abyssal Plague event, though not in a way that requires you to read the other novels in the AP to understand what's going on. What would be most helpful is having read Downshadow first, but even that isn't strictly necessary. The book takes place a year later and basically summarizes the relevant parts of what went down. ![]() Cheers |
| #1418DELTAAug 16, 2011 20:47:28 | So it's going to be released in EBook format? I will buy it when it's printed in paper. Sorry Erik. |
| #15sfdragonAug 17, 2011 14:38:29 | ditto... I cant get a signed ecopy..... I dont think..... dont think anyone gave that part much thought either... |
| #16eriksdbAug 17, 2011 15:27:15 | I understand, guys. |
| #17The_SilverswordAug 18, 2011 2:04:07 | Wait, what? Its only going to be in digital format? I missed that as well. I guess I need to start doing a better job of keeping up with this stuff. Ok so let me see if I understand this correctly. If you want a game book then you HAVE to buy a print version, but if you want a novel then you HAVE to buy the digital version!!??!! WotC make up youre friggin minds!!! Seems like a dumb idea to me, seems like that eliminates a good percantage of customers, which seems like a very bad business decision to me, but hey what do I know about business? Obviosly theyve looked at ebook sales and normal novel sales and decided it best to go digital, still wish I could get legal PDFs of various game books though, makes it a little easier to keep track of all the feats and powers and what not. Anyway, this rant is probably better suited to another topic. And I know its not Eriks decision, I'm still looking foward to reading it, seems like it could be a little cheaper though if its going to be a purely electronic release, they dont have to pay for all them trees and ink and what not, sorry, sorry, im starting to rant again. Yes, I think fowarding our comments to WotC is a good idea, I personally prefer a "real" book to read, knowhatimean? |
| #18eriksdbAug 22, 2011 11:32:38 | Wait, what? Its only going to be in digital format? I missed that as well. I guess I need to start doing a better job of keeping up with this stuff. AFAIK, this is an experiment to see if e-books will work out better than blowing all that money on the print versions. It is also always possible a print version will be released eventually--we'll just have to see. In the meantime, you need to do what's right for you (i.e. buying the e-book or not), but I would highly encourage making yourself heard here on the boards or contact the powers that be. As this is a new thing, feedback is important to the process. Cheers |
