Shadowed Sun - 4e campaign idea (PEACH)

Set in Elturel (at least it starts there)

The basic idea is this:

The Netherese at the behest of Shar have managed to reverse the light of Amaunator's Gift, so that it starts to emit shadow and blots out the real sun. Panic ensues, the Paladins manage to restore order (the players may get caught up in this - having to face a wild mob, or overzealous Paladins using a bit more force than they should).

The characters get set on a path t find the original ritual cast by Daelegoth Orndeir. They have to find the last clues, from a few churches of Amaunator, that lead either to the crypt of Daelegoth, discover he was transformed into an angel or became an exarch of Amaunator (I don't know which yet, and no lore has been given on what happened to him.

At this point the characters having the ritual, return, but before they can use the ritual, they have to find the components, some of which are from other planes. They also have to deal with some undead and other shadow threats to Elturel that are a little beyond the overworked paladins of the city.

They recover all the components to correct the problem, but need one more to protect the false sun from being attacked again, the implement of the Prince of Shade who cast/led the ritual that corrupted the false sun in the first place. So off to either shade or Sakkors.

That's pretty much it.

Any thoughts? Ideas?

Or have them acquire both to be able to determine what was done to alter it.

Sep 03, 2008 0:28:31 -Or, having them realize that the Shadovar have the actual plans, dangle some kind of way for the PCs to realize that he left a set of "back up notes" somewhere.
