| #1naeglosSep 20, 2009 11:35:21 | having read 'downshadow' it seems they are the same people, where can i find how she turned into shade? help appreciated |
| #2sfdragonSep 20, 2009 12:54:41 |
INFIDEL!!!
how dare you insult the luscious Fox at Twilight by alling her a shade. Eravan will smite you for calling his favorite that. she is spellscarred not a shade.
oh and on that note, I too believe they are the same, Foxxie just doesnt want the adoration attention. though she got it from me and a few others.
btw ever get the feeling that Twilight is Eravan's Daughter??? a very rebellious daughter at that... |
| #3naeglosSep 20, 2009 13:16:40 | seems she is spellscarred; her flesh burns the hand that touches it... and a shade; her irises have turned into pupilless metalic gold - just as the princes of shade- she dissapears into shadows, the way shades do... not to mention that she was called a shade by the waterdeep watch...
she also has become a tad mad, admittedly she was distraught by the death of her dear friend but her words were rather weird before she jumped into the shadows and dissapeared... i might ofcourse be mistaken but it seems something dreadfull has happened to fox ... and as for her being erevan's daughter; i remember her talking about him as a lover rather than a father...if erevan's morality is as warped as that; then i really misunderstood him...
|
| #4sfdragonSep 20, 2009 13:22:48 | and they assumed she was a shade. she is spellscarred, and the disappearing thing, well her 3.x statted her a ShadowDancer so....leftover, think my dog wants outside laters
oh Eric are you around here somewhere?? |
| #5naeglosSep 20, 2009 13:43:40 | hmm shadowdancer u say? excuse my ignorace but whats that precious? |
| #6LordManshoonSep 20, 2009 13:50:27 | Erik has already stated Ilira and Fox are one and the same. As for whether she's a shade or spellscarred, all will be revealed in due time (or not, cuz there are rarely straight answers where Fox is concerned). Oh, and regarding Erevan siring Twilight... You may want to take a look over on Loremaster. Specifically, the questions I asked Erik. But yes, they have made love, if memory serves me correctly. |
| #7sfdragonSep 20, 2009 13:59:56 | and at Candlekeep when asked similiar questions, Eric asnwered If he said yes to both questions..... |
| #8sfdragonSep 20, 2009 14:20:27 |
Foxxie at Twilight is a comeover character from late 3.5. she appeared in the greatest treasure, and took the lead role in Depths of madness. thus the ShadowDancer is a pretige class from the DMG 3.5 as well as 3.0. the best version of it is in the pathfinder rulebook. her 3.x stats are at the candlekeep website.
if you comeby here Erik, mind telling me what was appealing to you about the shadow assassin??
and what if they put out a shadowdancer class evetnually???? will she become a rogue/shadowdancer hybrid?? |
| #9naeglosSep 20, 2009 14:59:53 | i did read the short story but not the depths of madness ... should buy that one.. thanks a lot |
| #1018DELTASep 21, 2009 0:42:39 | Yes buy Depths of Madness... |
| #11sfdragonSep 21, 2009 1:54:52 | and then ask Erik De'Bie to write more of her. |
| #12askanipsionSep 21, 2009 21:21:26 | So Fox is in Downshadow?? or is it in another book where it is revealed she is spellcarred or shade?
She has become my favorite Realms character - "Depths of Madness" was one of the best books I ever read |
| #13LordManshoonSep 21, 2009 21:24:46 |
No, she is a minor/moderately important character, but she plays a big part in the history of one of the main characters. There are hints, though, that her role in this will only grow as Erik fleshes it out. |
| #14askanipsionSep 21, 2009 21:34:52 |
Thanks! I will have to pick the book up. |
| #15LordManshoonSep 21, 2009 21:38:06 |
It's a fantastic read, and is IMO Erik's best work to date. *insert every bit of praise I've ever given this book in other threads here* It is further support for why I demand WOTC give Erik a trilogy. Or at least a BotR volume. Hope you enjoy it. ![]() |
| #16eriksdbSep 22, 2009 19:29:52 | oh Eric are you around here somewhere?? As a matter of fact, I am, but I don’t always catch every thread. If my input is desired at any point, shoot me an email with a link, and I’ll be here as soon as I can. And wow, lots of questions! I'll see if I can wrangle this all out . . . having read 'downshadow' it seems they are the same people, where can i find how she turned into shade? Ah ah ah. I wouldn’t be so certain. She is indeed spellscarred--Shadowbane confirmed that in Downshadow, and he would know. She may or may not also be a shade. A lot can happen in 100 years. I haven’t given a straight answer yet, though rest assured, I intend to, as soon as I get the chance. seems she is spellscarred; her flesh burns the hand that touches it... and a shade; her irises have turned into pupilless metallic gold - just as the princes of shade- Well, the question is . . . are her eyes gold because she’s in some way connected to the shades, or are her eyes gold because she’s an eladrin in the 4e FR, and she has solid colored eyes for the same reason that eladrin in 4e do? Again . . . I plan to give a straight answer eventually. and they assumed she was a shade. There’s the million dollar answer. The watchmen called her a shade, because that was what she looked like at the time. If you burst into a room to find this hot woman, wrapped in dancing shadows with a life of their own (which is a shade’s favorite fashion statement), eyes glowing bright gold (infamously shade-ish), and then she vanishes by leaping through the shadows (like shades do), what would you think? This is one of those instances where you have to ask yourself, how reliable is that character’s opinion? As a narrator, I never lie to you—but the characters can either lie to you (Twilight and Fayne are particularly fond of this tact) or be totally incorrect (a whole horde of other characters). So Fox is the main character in Downshadow?? Lord Manshoon has the right of it. I definitely wanted her to be in the book, but this isn’t her story, so I didn’t want to take the focus away from the actual heroes and villains. As for her connections to the other characters . . . they are many and varied and they will be explored in more depth later. One hopes. if you comeby here Erik, mind telling me what was appealing to you about the shadow assassin?? We're here talking about my PC build for Twilight, which is a trickster rogue paragon'd as a shadow assassin. This is unofficial and the build I have used the one time I have played Twilight as a 4e character at GenCon. If they put out a shadowdancer class, I would have to assess it on its own merits to see if it fits her. Also, if Twilight were to be used in the game, she would most likely be an NPC, and their statblocks don't follow the same rules that PCs do. oh and on that note, I too believe they are the same, Foxxie just doesnt want the adoration attention.
Erik has already stated Ilira and Fox are one and the same. So I have, and I’ll reiterate that Ilira Nathalan and Fox-at-Twilight are indeed the same person. As for whether either of them is this mysterious “Shadowfox” character spoken of in the broadsheets . . . ahem. Only time will tell. What I will say is that Shadowfox is indeed the name of a notorious assassin who served the Empire of Netheril around the turn of the century, allegedly killing a number of extremely important people in various positions of power in the Realms. No one has ever been confirmed to have seen or know the identity of Shadowfox, so it’s kind of a folk story/legend. Think of the Jackal in the RL. btw ever get the feeling that Twilight is Eravan's Daughter??? a very rebellious daughter at that... That’s a solid theory. Only time will tell. Oh, and regarding Erevan siring Twilight... But yes, they have made love, if memory serves me correctly. Twilight did *claim* that was the case, but it’s entirely possible that she was jerking Yldar’s chain. The short dream sequence in Depths of Madness is probably your best bet for getting at the truth of their relationship. and at Candlekeep when asked similiar questions, Eric asnwered If he said yes to both questions.... I hope I at least said *maybe* . . . because that's the actual answer. and as for her being erevan's daughter; i remember her talking about him as a lover rather than a father...if erevan's morality is as warped as that; then i really misunderstood him... No, you didn’t misunderstand him—at least not in my work. I may err on the dark side when it comes to my writing, but I wouldn’t explore something messed up like that. That doesn’t mean that they are actually related. If you ever find definitive proof that Ilira and Erevan have thrown down, then you can metafiction that into proof that they are NOT related. she also has become a tad mad, admittedly she was distraught by the death of her dear friend but her words were rather weird before she jumped into the shadows and dissapeared... i might ofcourse be mistaken but it seems something dreadfull has happened to fox ... Ilira/Twilight has *always* been a tad mad. As I said, a lot can happen in 100 years. If I get the chance to write more about her, there will be an explanation. Or a few, knowing ‘Light.
It's a fantastic read, and is IMO Erik's best work to date. *insert every bit of praise I've ever given this book in other threads here* It is further support for why I demand WOTC give Erik a trilogy. Or at least a BotR volume. Hope you enjoy it. Sniff, sniff. This makes my day. Cheers |
| #17sfdragonSep 23, 2009 3:56:02 | Originally posted by Erik Scott de Bie nope you didnt say that she did here, which was the post of yours in question.
but then I got the fealing that she was his daughter just by reading the book, and seeing how she acted towards him.....
straight answers soon hmmmm, you escuse me if I question be them straight as anything that deals with Foxxi, isnt going to be striaght or if it is, it comes with a price. and most of my characters know who fox at twilight is, they just tend to live in Silverymoon and have residences in Myth Drannor as well, or in a demi plane..... they just play around with time portals.......
now I'm going back to sip that Elven wine..

| #18naeglosSep 23, 2009 14:35:52 | thanks everyone for the replies, most of all to the creator of twilight must read depths of madness soon so impatiently waiting for the delivery of the box form amazon.com |
| #19askanipsionSep 28, 2009 16:42:46 |
It is well worth the wait....I loved "Depths" and Twilight |
| #20sfdragonSep 30, 2009 16:08:24 | you know it would really be strange if Shadowfox and the Fox at twilght were twin sisters... |
| #21LordManshoonSep 30, 2009 17:49:01 |
It'd be even weirder if they were triplets with Fox McCloud. Just say he's a lycanthrope. |
| #22sfdragonOct 01, 2009 3:38:16 | no Fox Mcloud was a Kitsune |
| #23Nai_CalusOct 01, 2009 18:15:21 | Clearly, Twilight is The Fox from YAFGC. |
| #24DoctorBadWolfFeb 11, 2010 17:56:46 |
personally, I think shadow dancer could be a PP for assassins. I mean, the assassin at-will teleport seems like a more limited version of what shadow dancers did. maybe a third assassin build. yeah, I like that ever better. reading some stuff about the character, I like the idea of something involving both assassin and bard. |
| #25eriksdbFeb 11, 2010 21:54:27 | I hope someone working on the first Psionic Power (eh?) is reading this thread. ![]() The 4e assassin is totally a mix of the assassin and shadowdancer PrCs. Cheers |
| #26sfdragonFeb 11, 2010 22:08:22 | why is psionicpower going to have shadow power in it too?? |
| #27eriksdbFeb 11, 2010 22:09:57 | why is psionicpower going to have shadow power in it too?? Ouch, typo! Shadow Power, I meant. ![]() Cheers |
| #28sfdragonFeb 11, 2010 22:39:36 | are you sure that Erevan just wasnt playing a joke on you??? |

| #30Nai_CalusFeb 12, 2010 21:46:33 | I had a cat named Erevan. We spent two months thinking he was female before we found out he was male. We got him back a month later when we got him fixed. (And then, alas, a few months later he accidentally got out one night and we never saw him again. I still try to tell myself that he just got bored with us and moved on rather than the more likely outcome of 'the coyotes got him'.) I blame Lolth. I killed a spider the night he disappeared. That witch-with-a-capital-b. I think I'll blame all my typos from now on on Erevan, though. He's clearly moving the keys on the keyboard around on me. |
| #3118DELTAFeb 12, 2010 21:51:52 | Thats what you get for cuttin his stuff off!;) {J/K} Sorry about the kitty, I got 2 an they are so spoiled. ![]() |
| #32The_SilverswordFeb 13, 2010 3:59:57 | Cats? I hate Cats! Im more of a dog person, but my wife is alergic to dogs so yeah we have a cat. Its the most anti-social cat ive ever seen. She ussually just hides some where all day, if i try to pet her she bites me, if i go into the same room as her she has to leave. Unless of course shes hungry then all of a sudden shes my new best friend, rubbin up on my leg, purrin and meowing at me, trying to climb into my lap. Stupid cat. but any way back on topic: I still say theyre the same person! |

| #35Nai_CalusFeb 13, 2010 8:16:34 | Yeah, the cat just isn't deigning to waste its time on unworthy ingrates. Also you'd better be careful, Delta, in the 3.0 rules for gods, gods with wizard/sorc levels can take any animal of a certain type within a radius that I have forgotten as a familiar temporarily. Corellon uses cats as familiars. ;) |
| #36eriksdbFeb 13, 2010 17:17:35 | I myself have three cats, mostly because my wife really loves animals of all kinds and we don't at the moment have a fenced yard for a dog. That depends on the character. Samantha, for instance, would have stopped thinking at the word hot. She doesn't really care what kind of freaky powers people use, as long as the harmful ones are directed elsewhere... We're here talking about my PC build for Twilight, which is a trickster rogue paragon'd as a shadow assassin. This is unofficial and the build I have used the one time I have played Twilight as a 4e character at GenCon. She was pretty saucy, or at least the gryphon tamer thougth so. No one has ever been confirmed to have seen or know the identity of Shadowfox, so it’s kind of a folk story/legend. Think of the Jackal in the RL So was Shadowfox evil (or did she evil things)? I mean killing people is not good, imo, but was it evil? Adventurers do it all the time... Gomez |
| #45sfdragonFeb 14, 2010 20:50:54 | still say same person, have we ever seen them both at the same place at the same time? if one is hunting to kill the other for a wrong, then you wont see them at the same place at the same time, unless Shadow Fox is being impaled by the really naughty Fox At Twilight |
| #46eriksdbFeb 14, 2010 22:45:13 | So was Shadowfox evil (or did she evil things)? I mean killing people is not good, imo, but was it evil? Adventurers do it all the time... | #47Nai_CalusFeb 14, 2010 23:55:20 | still say same person, have we ever seen them both at the same place at the same time? It occurs to me that, in the multiverse of D&D, seeing two people in the same place at the same time isn't proof of anything. |

| #49kaelenselunelFeb 15, 2010 13:08:15 | still say same person, have we ever seen them both at the same place at the same time? I totally second this. Being in the same place at the same time doesn't really mean much in a world where one can hop across planes and travel through time. |
| #50eriksdbFeb 15, 2010 13:27:51 | still say same person, have we ever seen them both at the same place at the same time? It's better than nothing, I guess--but tragically, pretty sure you've never (knowingly, at least) seen Shadowfox . . . unless Twilight and Shadowfox are the same person. In which case you have seen them both. In the same place at the same time. ![]() (It's the Evil alignment, you know.) Cheers |
| #51sfdragonFeb 15, 2010 13:36:18 | I'm still telling you, their twins......
