| #1striaticJan 27, 2012 13:48:12 | I'm working on a backstory to explain the presence of Shardminds in Toril, and in particular a connection between that race and the Godess Selune. I'm wondering if any of these ideas violate the canonical cosmology of FR, and if so how they may be adapted to fit into it. Here is the story, please let me know where it breaks apart for you: Shards of the Living Gate broke apart during the dawn war and they fell upon Toril along with other fragments of the lattice of heaven. Further.. Many of these shards were caught in the orbit of Selune, who sought to preserve them so that one day the living gate might be rebuilt. From time to time when Selune sheds tears of despair upon her creation, these shards rain down from the heavens as a gift from Selune to help protect the good people of the realm. All of these shards are gems of containing tremendous power, and those from the Living Gate are Shardmind champions yet to be born. Further.. The Priestesses of Selune see it as their duty to gather up and protect these gifts from the Goddess, as well as those falling shards that she was unable to capture in her orbit during the upheaval of the Dawn War. After the shards spark into setience, the Priestesses raise/train/indoctrinate them to be defenders of Selune's creation. Further.. Shar is using her control over the Shadowfell to manifest a 'Shadow Moon' that would pull shards from Selune's orbit into the Shadowfell, stealing them away for Shar's own purposes. |

It could actually be fragments of many Panthenons Live or dead or believed to be dead. See the Forest for all the trees. A drop in the Pond, String Theory, but make sure it doesn't turn into something that is over frequent. It should be a rare and not common knowledge. |
