Well, I already have the 2nd edition products The North, Volo's guide to the north, and Savage Frontier downloaded. So lorewise, is silver marches worth it?

in a word, yes. Its one of the better 3.0 supplements. Great details on places like Everlund and Deadsnows. Good backround on all of the major cities. Good PrCs too

Powers of Faerun in one of the better 3.5 books. Lots of cool stuff in there. Lots of good fluffy stuff.

Don't know much about the adventures, though I have heard mixed reviews

What about powers of faerun or the three adventures (cormyr, shadowsdale, anauroch)

I never bought Power of Faerun, though I did skim through it - just didn't like it, so it stayed on the bookstore shelf.

I did get the three most recent adventures, Cormyr, Shadowdale and Anauroch. I hated them, and ended up selling them to a used bookstore, mainly because the storyline seriously gimps the use of magic in major combats (thereby gimping all non-shadowweave mages, clerics, etc... the PCs). The books are essentially the story of how the Netherese put an anti-Weave zone over all of the Netheril desert (last adventure) and start with attempts in smaller regions (first two). There isn't much lore in it, and nothing at all new on Netheril, really, other than the Mystra vs. Shar story which is in AGHotR anyway. So buy AGHotR if you're looking for lore, not these adventures.

-Good point...But, in the future, it could become a $4 PDF. ;)

-Same here. I bought it, but didn't like it, and is the only D&D book I've ever returned to the store. Apparently, by not liking Power of Faerûn, it makes me a bad person.

Ahh, I already got that, and I haven't heard much good about the adventures anyway, so if there is no lore that I don't already know, then forget it. Thanks!

I've heard some bad things about Power of Faerun though...

Silver Marches is one of my favorite FR books ever. When I read or use it, I get that special D&D feeling of high adventure and frontier bravery! Lots of options here.

The FR adventure path...I don't know. I bought the first one (Cormyr) but was disappointed enough to sell the darn book a couple of days later. I didn't bother with the two follow ups (although the cover art is great). The reason Cormyr disappointed me was because it felt like an adventure set in some weak homebrew version of FR

I like Power of Faerûn a lot, mainly because of its fluff content and the Border Kingdoms chapter (which can be found on the WotC site as well).

PoF didn't exactly 'titilate' me, but it wasn't bad, either. I bought it because it was Realmslore, but most of the subject matter covered therein wasn't my cup-of-tea... but that's a matter of personal preferences.

And after looking at my copy of SM this morning, I realized I didn't pay $11.99... I paid $11.18! :D

Plus Tax, of course...

Screw a $4 PDF when I can get a REAL book for less then $12!!!

Paid the same for my new copy of LEoF as well - that place is awesome; I plan to buy all my 3e books there before they run out, including ones I already own that are getting 'ratty'.

I skimmed through Powers of Faerun, but it just didn't draw me.
Stuff I did buy, and like, where Underdark, Lost Empires, Secrets of the Moonsea, and Shining South.
I also bought the Shadowdale adventure, which was not much special, but I felt compelled to getting anything dale-ish now it is still available. It has a Shadowdale map in it, so I figure it was not a total waste of money.
Anyway if Silver Marches is like the other books I bought, it would be worth it imo.

-Hmm...Either there's another continuity error caused by R.A. Salvatore setting his novels in the past, or in 1372 (when this book takes place), Wulfgar marries Catti-Brie, meaning that something in the next couple of books (since they are nearing 1372 DR) is going to happen to alter the Drizzt/Catti-Brie/Wulfgar love triangle again.

Given what happens in The Orc King, I think it was just a mistake rather than successful prognostication.;)

Silver Marches is an excellent book. I highly recommend it. It makes running the game in that area very interesting and gives you the ability to get into the stuff that makes it memorable. The weather is particularly fun for me, and PC's simply shouldn't take mountain paths in the midst of a raging thunderstorm, they nearly drown.

And I like Power of Faerun, I just don't like using the whole thing. I see it more as a powerful source of inspiration, although my harper and zhentarim fans favor it highly. But then I have to deal with very powerful characters who have earned very prestigious titles and responsibilities.

You know a supplement that didn't even begin to cover enough stuff? Waterdeep: The City of Splendors. Where can I find more information on it? I have the second edition Skullport book. Is there anything else?

I don't kill them. I release them from the bigotry of the present age. Speaking as a halfbreed myself I would like to note the Legolas' face on a scrawny human female body with a beard reminiscent of present day cultures based on the needs of pubescent males does not a Dwelf make. ;)
