Something about Skulls, the floating Skulls in Skullport. What are those things? Are they alive? Machinations or summons created by a powerful spellcaster? Or are they spirits of Netheril Wizards who are still alive due to power? How powerful are they that the Sojourner is afraid of them? |
| #2IluvrienNov 15, 2009 12:47:04 | Personally I don't know if their full nature has ever been described. I do know that they crop up in a few tales here and there. I am fairly certain they appear in the Skullport scenes in one of the Starlight and Shadows series, Tangled Webs I think. I will look into it some more once I get back to my books. |

The Skulls were the work of Halaster Blackcloak, the mastermind behind Undermountain. Im not sure if he created them or summoned them or what. I dont know if I would consider them to be alive, but they do have a sentience. They were pretty much the law and order of Skullport, they were there to keep the peace, anybody cause trouble and the Skulls get em. Since the Spellplauge Skullport has gone to **** and the Skulls are now free to roam the city at large, so watch yourself if you ever find yourself in Waterdeep. |

The Mythlar of their Enclave malfunction creating them, while destroting the Enclave, and created the current 3rd level of Undermountain. The 2E supplement Skullport (Pg 6, and 22) has some good info. Halaster Blackcloak was also afraid of them... |
| #5The_SilverswordNov 15, 2009 23:15:13 | yeah but didnt Halaster bind them to Skullport or something? I know Halaster has to tie in there somewhere. |
| #618DELTANov 15, 2009 23:31:39 | They are/were bound to the Mantle they were originally working on. Halaster told his apprentices to avoid the area. |
| #7The_SilverswordNov 15, 2009 23:41:58 | Interesting, So they was there before he even moved in. i thought for sure that Halaster had a had in thier creation or binding or something. |
| #818DELTANov 15, 2009 23:53:12 | The Netherese arrived in 'undermountain' almost 500 years before Karsus Folly in -339 DR... Halaster arrived in 'undermountain' in 168 DR... |
| #9StiggerNov 16, 2009 7:27:59 | Ah, the Skullport supplement... loved that book. Gave me countless hours of fun. |
| #1018DELTANov 16, 2009 8:02:22 | Thats why I ordered it from www.nobleknight.com. |
| #11StiggerNov 16, 2009 8:32:50 | I bought it when it came out... ![]() |
| #1218DELTANov 16, 2009 8:34:31 | Elitist... |
| #13StiggerNov 16, 2009 8:35:45 | Yeah, and? |
| #1418DELTANov 16, 2009 8:40:02 | Elves rule dude...![]() |
| #15StiggerNov 17, 2009 7:21:36 | ...over the decaying corpses and dreams of the just and goodly. |
| #1618DELTANov 17, 2009 8:27:14 | Awesome! |
| #17The_SilverswordNov 17, 2009 12:27:00 | Stigger, what sort of Elves are you hanging out with? The ones I know are nothing like that! |
| #18StiggerNov 17, 2009 15:18:19 | I don't hang out with elves. I have a measure of self-respect afterall. Though most of the examples I point to are drawn from the 'exploits' of the gold elves, you know, Corellon's "Chosen Ones"... |
| #19The_SilverswordNov 17, 2009 15:45:48 | Man, i would watch what you say about the Elves! This is not a guy i would want to make mad! |
| #20StiggerNov 17, 2009 15:51:13 | I laugh at such things, though I could see where it might intimidate the likes of you, oh snivelling one who trembles at the thought of facing shades. |
| #21The_SilverswordNov 17, 2009 16:00:03 | bah! Shades!? bring em on! I aint scared of no shades! Im just being sly about it, Im not about to go rushing in, not yet any way. Got to work on em a little, disrupt thier trade out of Sembia, Supply arms and equipment to the resitance, and training smilies and minions for the task ahead, I am working on it! The Elves could be powerful allies as well, if youd stop p***ing them off! |
| #22StiggerNov 18, 2009 7:31:28 | They are a mere shadow of a threat. If you were a real sword of silver, you'd have kicked them off the freakin' planet by now... geez. |
| #23The_SilverswordNov 18, 2009 13:36:15 | Its not that simple, those Shades are everywhere and theyre sneaky little bastards. Itll take some time to unravel all their plots, and root them out, and then send the whole lot of em packing. ![]() |
| #24StiggerNov 19, 2009 9:53:14 | You have my permission to take an extra day, but I want solid results by monday morning. ![]() |
| #25The_SilverswordNov 19, 2009 15:18:15 | A whole extra day! Awesome! That should give me time to work on my masterplan! All I need to do is get inside the Shade Enclave, and unleash some Anti-Magic to disrupt their Mythalar. Unfortunately Anti-Magic seems hard to come by these days. |
| #26StiggerNov 19, 2009 18:27:20 | The best you can come up with is Anti-Magic? Good lord, I'm glad I'm not your covering your life insurance policy... though I am glad I set myself up as your beneficiary. ![]() |
| #27The_SilverswordNov 19, 2009 18:44:53 | Thats a solid plan! Magic is one of thier main strenghts, so if that was out of the way they would be easy pickins. Need to figure out a way to cut thier ties to the Shodowfell as well, then they cant do that annoying shadow walk thing no more. |
| #2818DELTANov 20, 2009 1:38:59 | As I said elsewhere: Better pack a lunch... |
| #29The_SilverswordNov 20, 2009 2:37:51 | As I said elsewhere: Better pack a lunch... I thought you was coming too? You can at least spare some clerics of Curellon cant you? |
| #3018DELTANov 20, 2009 3:54:26 | I might be crazy,...but I sure aint stupid...![]() Have your fun Shade-bait. ![]() |
| #31The_SilverswordNov 20, 2009 4:40:39 | I might be crazy,...but I sure aint stupid... Cmon man, at least let me use some of your Zhentish Harpers in the assualt. If we all band together we can end the Shades reighn of terror once and for all!! |
| #32StiggerNov 20, 2009 8:47:59 | Meh, they were over before they started, you're just too silly in the head to actually realize it. Poor Shadebait... I will have a mug of coffee in your memory. |
