I am completely in the dark on this one. I enjoyed these two characters immensely. And I guess I was hoping for some insight that others may have that I haven't found yet.

Either one (or both) of them could be associated with the warlock Knights of Vassa at this point.

Is Waterdeep the LasVegas of the Realms then? I thought it had to be somewhere. :D

I guess Luskan (pre-spellplague) could be Reno.

And if you've read Road of the Patriarch then your guess is as good as everybody elses (barring Bob of course).

I have a suspicion we'll see Artemis behind the seens some where. A back alley God in Baldurs Gate. May not even be in Salvatores book, but with his permision and crituquies.

Possibly, although as per Road of the Partriach:

Not only have they moved on from the Cold Lands, they've both gone their seperate ways.

They left Vassa. Last thing I read, they split apart in Calimport (Artemis did not want to be followed, and Jaraxle was going to go back on walk about with a new friend he met).

Jaraxle would still be very much alive unless they kill him off. Perhaps he will make an apperence in the transitions series book 2 or 3.

A 100 years laters in FR 4e, I would assume Artemis is dead unless someone converted him into a lich or used some other form of magic to increase in life span. He was in his mid 40's per the last book. So he would be at least 140 something in FR 4e.

Come to think of it, a great deal of characters will be dead, even those with long life spans (there are dragons about after all).

Entreri is part shade now, he will live as long as or longer than drizzt.

and in this time, maybe he will come to terms with what he has become, since he faced his past.

jarlaxle, cant say he seems to push his luck quite a bit

I am thinking Artemis is temporarily out, however Jarlaxle may very well make a reappearence. After all, the pairing of him with Athrogate(Sp?) seems to have been done soley for the purpose of them making the roll-over, with Artemis's departure allowing for the mystery of the man to remain, without having to kill off the character for the edition change.

IIRC, she was sent 'down under' with the Drow - I really can't see Artemis hooking up with her again.

I CAN see a half-Drow decendent of hers (with Jarlaxle as the father?! ) becoming one of the Warlock Knights of Vassa.

I was thinking about writing up a Drow one....

RAS sucks at writing Dwarves - he always tries to 'break the mold' with his characters, but with Dwarves they just wind up looking ridiculous.

I'd give him points for being creative, but thats as far as it goes. There is a reason why Dwarves are overly-stereotypical, and rarely does a non-stereotype work for them (the one in Skullport being one of those few exceptions).

Yeah, I'd say Entreri is still lurking around somewhere, maybe as a new chosen of Mask, or even a special agent of the Empire of Netheril.

Whereas I can see Artemis taking the sane road and siding with the Shades (becoming their Agent-at-large), just for the sake of self-preservation during the Spellplague, I can also see Jarlaxle finally running out of luck and coming up against something far nastier then himself.

Like, say, a fallen Primordial or a Demon Prince.

Actually, forget Hannibal - I want the smarts without the gross - more like TVs Dexter (and NOT the cartoon character!). Also, he would be a 'bad guy' with a conscience (as per the ending of RotP) - he would do the Shades bidding, but on HIS terms, and he'd never hurt a child (kinda like having a Tony Montana thing going on there).

Yeah, kind of like Erevis Cale's agreement with Mask. He works for the god, but on his terms and by his morality.

As for Jarlaxle, if he knew what was good for him he would have taken that position in Breghan D'arthae that Kimmuael offered him.

Artrogate, how could I have forgot him. When all three (Jaraxle, Artemis and Artrogate) were together, I liked all of them. Add in a Bladesinger gone south and it would have really been intresting with all the infighting.

I like Artemis too much to kill him off. Jaraxle could come up/find, some way to extend life to his old friend but going the route of a shade doesn't make much sense.

Some other template or artifact would make a little more sense in my opinion.

Chosen of Mask? Doubtful... Hoar, maybe... But not Mask.

To be honest however, I think Selûne has her eyes on him now. He did stomp out a rather greedy, corrupted branch of her church; so I think she may look kindly on him for doing so.

Actually, after that book Ive stopped caring about either Jarlaxle or Entreri, but I will give my two cents anyways.

Yeah, I'd say Entreri is still lurking around somewhere, maybe as a new chosen of Mask, or even a special agent of the Empire of Netheril.

Chosen of Mask? Doubtful... Hoar, maybe... But not Mask.

Really? I find it odd that this idea of him as a chosen even came up tbh. Artemis has shown a distinct lack of appreciation for any form of divinity. Also, his RotP rant about the idea of "divine right" and such reinforces my perception that being a Chosen would just make him chafe.

I can see Artemis taking the sane road and siding with the Shades (becoming their Agent-at-large), just for the sake of self-preservation during the Spellplague

Respectfully, I also can't see this. Artemis cannot play nice with other bad guys, and shows a tendency to screw over any organisation he is affiliated with as long as he has a paper-thin justification to do so. Look at RotP and his misadventure with the Citadel of Assassins.

I think if there is one thing we can say about Entreri from Servant of the Shard on, it is that he is and will always be his own man. I cannot see him ever serving a wizard, let alone an evil kingdom of wizards. Nor can I see him ever submitting to someone and living for their ends. Yeah - Servant of the Shaard was supposed to be a 'Drizzt' book, but he was hardly in it.

Jus like that Wulfgar one where he becomes a drunk...

You know - I made a typo when I spelled out the name of that book... and then it made me suddenly realize who's name is in it!

I like Artemis siding with Selune - that would sort-of make him opposed to Everis Cale. They should fight it out in 4e, but I doubt the two authers would agree on who would win.

Then again, Drizzt would problem just show up and kill them both, without breaking a sweat.

-Which, for all intents and purposes, are synonymous, Selûne and her church. The church members are the mortal representatives of the deities. Thus, as a mortal, he should be able to conclude that, in part, Selûne was condoning his actions, allowing him to keep his powers and keep his status in the church. This is true... Hmm... No wonder I tend to like Hoar, at least when you serve him, you get what's coming to you. Though makes it a little hard to ask for a quick and painless end...

Oh beating a "good guy" is easy, it's the killing him that's hard. And more often then not, it's better to leave a good guy wondering if he truly is any better then Entreri, like King Gareth Dragonsbane, who, might I aid, I felt made the right choice in sparing Entreri's life. There would have been no real reason for his death, and while "Smite first, ask questions later" might be the Paladin's norm, it is not a sure way to live a long life. Not for one who is a King.
