| #2markustay63Mar 01, 2009 15:07:33 | LOL... its called 4th edition. It was frist 'described' (if you could call it that) in the Grand History of the Realms. The only novel it is somewhat showcased in are those ones about Thay - the second one, IIRC (Undead). Its also mentioned - a LOT - in Blackstaff Tower, but nothing at all is said about it. Beyond that, we have a little bit of a description in the FRCG, but still not a whole lot in the way of details (which is how they want it). Edit: Read This- thats about the most detail given anywhere. |
| #3Keith53Mar 01, 2009 16:35:29 | You might want to read the novel, Plague of Spells, by Bruce R. Cordell. This was released in December 2008 and starts his Abolethic Sovereignty series. Chapter one is the spell plague hits Starmantle. The book also covers more about being spellscarred and the plaguelands. I don't believe that WotC has any intention of publishing a single novel to capture all of the spellplague, and I doubt that would make an good novel, perhaps more of a reference work. Keith |
| #4luvtherealmsMar 01, 2009 16:48:02 | LOL... its called 4th edition. its also mentioned in Plague Of Spells by Bruce Cordell in book one of the Abolethic Sovereignty Book 1. It has a date in Chapter 1 of the spellplauge happening on 28 Tarsakh 1358 DR. The book Undead also has it happening in the middle of a battle between Szass Tam and all the other Zulkirs It really didnt seem to affect the battle as spells were still flying left and right. So I dont think it affected Thay overly much. |
| #5bloddsbaneMar 01, 2009 17:13:31 | So??? What should I read first????![]() ![]() |
| #6judge_dookieMar 01, 2009 17:35:01 | So??? What should I read first???? Undead is the first mention I got. I'm not sure if it came out right before AGHotR or after. Either way, don't expect more than a sentence or two regarding the subject. |
| #7bloddsbaneMar 01, 2009 18:28:10 | [AGHotR What does that than for? |
| #8Keith53Mar 01, 2009 20:05:04 | The book Undead has the better description of what happened to magic and the topology of Thay due to the Spellplague. The book Plague of Spells has more description (in this one location) of what happened to people, places and things. which matters to you. I will read every description for understanding as it probably varied hundreds or maybe thousands of times across Abeir-Toril. The Grand History of the Realms = TGHofR Keith |
| #9TheriseMar 01, 2009 20:08:28 | So??? What should I read first???? Neither, as they are irrelevant to the overall Spellplague. Each of these only speaks -minimally- of it. "AGHotR" A Grand History of the Realms. What you really want, if you want an overall description of the Spellplague, is the new Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide. You won't need novels or anything else. |
| #10sfdragonMar 02, 2009 0:49:58 | well, the Ssas Tam novel deals with the deal with Thay, and the death of the Zulkirs. the Empyrean Oddessy series has a scene of a provebial death of mystra in it, and the third of it may have the fate of Tyr in it. the plague of spells from what I hear has the escape of the traitor and such. my suggestion, read the Plague of Spells |
| #11markustay63Mar 02, 2009 1:20:07 | So??? What should I read first???? This - Read This- thats about the most detail given anywhere. Its FREE - always do FREE first. :D |
| #12drizztsmanchildMar 02, 2009 1:34:27 | Actually you don't need to read the novels. Pretty much everything that's known about the Spellplague can be found on these forums. Just do a search on what aspect about it you want to find out about. If its not on here then it hasn't came out yet. Though(yes I am repeating what I've said before) RAS novel in Oct/Nov of this year titled the "The Ghost King" takes place during the spellplague, which from what I read on these forums is the only novel that actually does. (Unless other novels are on their way before then) |

(Unless other novels are on their way before then) -As was mentioned parts of Plague of Spells, Undead, and The Fractured Sky take place directly when the Spellplague starts. |
| #14JudgeDookieMar 02, 2009 20:30:11 | And I am sure we'll get all but ten sentences about the fact, as well. ![]() |
| #15markustay63Mar 03, 2009 14:56:43 | Or more likely, we will get each author's seprate (and very different ) intrpretation of what it was all about. Thats why they don't give details in the sourcebooks - no author can be wrong now. Or hadn't you figured that out yet? ![]() |
| #16JudgeDookieMar 03, 2009 15:30:04 | Something unfigurable can't be figurable, doorknob! ![]() Otherwise, we would just turn your ass, pull, and be enlightened. |
