| #3lord_karsusSep 15, 2008 13:18:58 | -The designers have already stated that there will not be any books set in the transitory period during the Spellplague (1385-1479), but the novel Plague of Spells, and part of Unclean (I believe) takes place during this time, so... |
| #4JudgeDookieSep 15, 2008 15:43:33 | The only real mention of her death comes in The Haunted Lands trilogy. But, trust me, its a 2 second sound bite and nothing more. Its why I ended up in this cave...seeking answers. ![]() |
| #5TheriseSep 15, 2008 21:21:16 | The only real mention of her death comes in The Haunted Lands trilogy. Yep, for all practical purposes, Mystra's death is off-page and viewed through others' reactions (which are very brief). |
| #6splargSep 16, 2008 15:15:04 | Yep, for all practical purposes, Mystra's death is off-page and viewed through others' reactions (which are very brief). My reaction was "What? Mystra's dead?... Who wants pancakes?" |
| #7karazhanSep 16, 2008 16:36:48 | I think they are purposefully leaving the 100+ year gap alone as it allows them the chance to edit, adapt, or use as a get-out-of-jail-card to solve any fan addressed problems in future novels as we consume and form opinions on the 4e realms. Example: Huge backlash for killed a deity? Well you could just have them have vanished/left/died/imprisoned somewhere allowing them to return (be resurrected) in a future book. |

| #9JudgeDookieSep 16, 2008 19:09:56 | And now I find out King Bruenor is dead There, there, my man. Here. Have a hug and a biscuit. |
| #10serphetSep 16, 2008 19:50:59 | found this leak from a NWN 3 preview... "Ah! The child of Mystra has awoken! It is time for more... experiments." "The pain will only be passing, you should survive the process" "Interesting... you have much untapped power." "Do you even realise your potential?" |
| #11JudgeDookieSep 16, 2008 19:58:01 | Sounds like a Disturbed song I once heard. ![]() Source? We sure this isn't one of the missing Chosen that is being referred to as "the child of Mystra''? |
| #12serphetSep 16, 2008 19:59:00 | ... it was a really bad joke |
| #13rogar2465Sep 16, 2008 20:29:01 | A bad joke from Baldurs Gate II :D |
| #14JudgeDookieSep 16, 2008 20:33:13 | ... it was a really bad joke Alright, buddy!!! That's it!! Faulty humor belongs in the Forgotten Realms of Jokes section. ![]() I'll have both our posts moved there immediately. SWORDBOY! I mean, LK...! ![]() |
| #15lord_karsusSep 16, 2008 22:39:42 | And now I find out King Bruenor is dead -It was bound to happen eventually. |
| #16serphetSep 17, 2008 10:57:14 | Alright, buddy!!! That's it!! Faulty humor belongs in the Forgotten Realms of Jokes section. oh come on.. its not that much of a stretch. We all know how much Mystra loves gender change and such... |
| #17JudgeDookieSep 17, 2008 20:31:56 | oh come on.. its not that much of a stretch. We all know how much Mystra loves gender change and such... Hey! I had the hots for her at one point. That gender changing crap is disgusting!! ![]() |
| #18serphetSep 17, 2008 20:38:07 | kk so how do you think Mystra is going to come back then? |
| #19JudgeDookieSep 17, 2008 20:55:40 | kk so how do you think Mystra is going to come back then? Eliminster. He releases the "powers" he contains, Symbul sacrifices herself. El thinks he is doing the same, but lives. AberAcAdAberA!! I give you Mystra!! ![]() (condensed version) |
| #20lord_karsusSep 17, 2008 21:31:17 | kk so how do you think Mystra is going to come back then? -She's not. If she was removed for a reason, and that reason was cited as the reason so many people "hated" the setting, then her inclusion would drive such people away. They don't want to alienate two fanbases. |
| #21JudgeDookieSep 17, 2008 22:04:01 | They don't want to alienate two fanbases. Uh....? Alternate Universe A: Of course, Professor. Very Wise, Professor. Alternate Universe B: Willis, shut the up and get me some coffee. Thats ![]() . |

They don't want to alienate two fanbases. people didn't like the Realms because of Mystra? news to me. as far as I was concerned she was pretty irrelevant. I mean, she didn't even deny the ability to cast spells to the enemies of her own chosen! |
| #23lord_karsusSep 17, 2008 22:11:07 | Uh....? -...Oooohhhkay. people didn't like the Realms because of Mystra? -Yup. Mystra and her Chosen Justice League stole the glory from PCs, and had a tyrannic grip on magic that prevented evil from doing anything. Mystra, as a whole, seemed to represent and personify all of that, which is probably three of four issues (Mystra having control of magic, High Level NPCs, Evil being portrayed as Keystone Kops in many sources, something else, maybe). news to me. as far as I was concerned she was pretty irrelevant. I mean, she didn't even deny the ability to cast spells to the enemies of her own chosen! -Hey, those are facts you're tossing around. When you are railing against something, you don't need correct facts. ;) |

| #26angelus_obscuraSep 18, 2008 1:42:58 | What if Kelemvor and Midnight conceived a child between the events of the Time of Troubles? What if Midnight carried the child into divinity? What if Mystra held the god-fetus in stasis and the Year of Blue Fire was just her water breaking? What if ... |
| #27ProinSep 18, 2008 7:09:08 | Psst... you forgot to work Drizzt in there somewhere. ;) Drizzit almost made me hate the Realms. Arilyn Moonblade and Danilo Thann saved the Realms for me. |
| #28elondirSep 18, 2008 7:52:14 | What if Kelemvor and Midnight conceived a child between the events of the Time of Troubles? LOL! You know it's going to happen, and probably in some way that will probably come off as contrived. Bhaal had his spawn, Moander almost came back after being dead for a few thousand years (remember Curse of the Azure Bonds?), and Bane came back. You can't kill deities forever, they come back as soon as the plot asks for it or (more like it) when the deities in question come back in style. Mystra will be back, even if she gets a new name (like Mystryl or Midnight). |
| #29lord_karsusSep 18, 2008 10:22:21 | What if Kelemvor and Midnight conceived a child between the events of the Time of Troubles? -Interesting things to keep in mind... |
| #30kikagezumiSep 18, 2008 17:07:16 | - DM's should read, The Trials of Cyric. She almost got her godhood taken away, along w/ Cyric and Kelemvor, for playing favorites too much. As in, I don't like you so your followers can't cast spells. She went around takig spell casting all willy-nilly, until the gods took her to God-court, and put her back in line. In short, ya she did do that in the past for a bit, but not for long. |

| #33arboureanSep 18, 2008 23:37:42 | Is Crucible even canon or was it Cyric's greatest deception? Pretty much every event that happened in that book as been contradicted. The last line in that book is gold. |
| #34lord_karsusSep 18, 2008 23:44:01 | -The events that happen are canon, but being as that it was told (Most of it? Some of it?) from the point of view of Malik, those passages cannot be taken as 100% correct. Make sense? |
| #35thomillSep 20, 2008 11:05:04 | Is Crucible even canon or was it Cyric's greatest deception? Pretty much every event that happened in that book as been contradicted. I am trying to remember this, now. It has been many years since I read that series. Is this the line wherein another "entity" asks Ao about his universe? If so, I agree - this is - by far - one of the best end-lines in any novel, regardless of genre. That line has stayed with me for many years. In the novel, I recall being impressed that Ao was involved at all, and the last line really was a "wow" moment in a book that already was quite good. T |

That "How fairs your universe?" line was from Waterdeep, the third book of the Avatar series. |
