Ah, and in Amn is some sport activity like rafting on a wild river during the floods in spring time. But it was mentioned that no one survived this in the last centuries. Was something mentioned in Lands of Intrigue Book II.
Besides this I would think that there are plenty of normal sports in the FR, but they are not mentioned because it is not that important and everyone can imagine some of the things we had in the real world (well there is certainly no Wembley Stadium, but maybe horse races, or the like and in some areas things like knight tournaments...).
Halflings have games like "throw the stick", and "throw the rock", and "throw the stick and then the rock shortly thereafter".

In the Maztica sourcebook was a ball game mentioned. Seemed to be some important event and something to gain social status or so. And from what is described there it seems to be the same like the mayan/aztec ball game mentioned here.

Goat ball is a sport similar to . . . hmm . . . the nearest parallel we have in the real world is rugby mixed with dodgeball, maybe? Hmm. Sort of.
Goliaths (or the hapless adventurers participating) climb up on these small platforms (boulders, tree-stumps, etc) and hurl around this poorly-filled, lumpy sack about the size of a football (made from goat skin). Objectives in the game include completing passes with the awkward goat-hide ball (the more misshapen the better, actually), knocking opposing players off platforms with well placed throws, or just shoving them off (particularly if no one's looking). A team wins if they've knocked all their opponents to the ground or tagged them all with the ball (which makes a player "out").
It's all detailed on page 59 of Races of Stone.

I'd use Goblins: Small size, +2 Dex and +4 racial bonus to Ride checks (3e) makes for great jockeys. (I once thought up a home-brew psionics-based setting, where each race evolved into an environment and society according to what their stats suggested. Goblins would have been the plains-dwelling horse-nomads, as well as proud cavalry officers and knights.)
