On page 8 of the 3E sourcebook Silver Marches there is a description of the Gnome settlement of Graevelwood in the Arn Forest.

One of my players is interested in starting a new Gnome Bard character and we are working on her background. She will have studied music in Silverymoon, but she would like to be from a Gnome settlement. Does Graevelwood still exist. If not, then are there any other canonical Gnome settlements nearby?

I realize, of course, that we could just make one up.

Well there were always few Gnomes on Toril, theyre known as the Forgotten Folk for a reason.

But any way it has been stated that if they did not specificaly say that something was              destroyed, then we are to assume that its still there. So yeah I would say  that Graevelwood is still there. The details are of course up to you, perhaps its grown in the last 100 years, maybe other races have moved in as well, or perhaps it was devastated by the Spellplague and theyre  just now starting to rebuild again, Its really up to you. Please do share with the rest of us what you come up with.
