Wow, really? All the great suggestions of fun, engaging, creative contests submitted in the suggestion thread, and you choose a trivia write-in? Is this the 1950's? Are you shilling Ovaltine? Since your product is a roleplaying game, you should be aware that your customer base is inordinately creative and challenge-oriented, and should be offered the opportunity to demonstrate and be rewarded for that unique talent. Short stories! Fluff tables! Thematic NPC write-ups! The expressive, engaging options are literally limitless, and what do you choose? A frelling trivia scavenger hunt for the first 16 correct answers. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from the most iconic brand of the industry, but I'd like to think that you could be more innovative than some cut-rate morning radio show giving away Dave Matthews tickets.

And now I am kicking myself...

...I saw Corsair on sale in a shop I frequent (not as much as I would like to) while in London last weekend. And I didn't buy it.

Curses!

I will probably try and enter this competition though.

Seconded.

People - there are eough real reasons to bash WotC - let's not turn this into a witchunt!

This is a fine thing they're doing, and a step in the right direction; I, for one, am going to enter.

Yes, that's it exactly. I hate free stuff. You've totally nailed me, and without missing the point or misinterpreting my post at all.

Seconded.

People - there are eough real reasons to bash WotC - let's not turn this into a witchunt!

This is a fine thing they're dong, and a step in the right direction; I, for one, am going to enter.

...do you really think you could win at this point? It took me ninety seconds with a Google search to get all of the answers. Do you really think that, in the past sixteen hours, sixteen people haven't already done what I did and actually entered in the contest? Hey, I'm pulling for you, but c'mon.

This is just another element of the contest's bad design. It's not inclusive or engaging, but rather exclusive by nature. A creative submission contest (like the dozens of ideas submitted, at WotC's request, in this thread) would keep people entering for weeks. This thing won't have any entries past the first day or two, because there's no chance sixteen people haven't blundered their way through a site search and entered already. Might as well just run a lotto. Woohoo.

I'm not just annoyed because the contest is lame. I'm annoyed because the lame contest idea was chosen over so many better ideas that WotC asked us for. Yeah, this won't be the last one, and it'd be super peachy keen to see a real contest featured someday instead of some 'What was the name of the Lone Ranger's cousin's horse?' crap, but I can't actually think of a worse foot for these contests to start off on.

-Please stop spamming. Do not post in this thread unless you have technical difficulties, or some other problems/questions.

I assume this isn't directed at me, since my complaint is perfectly on-topic and falls under the category of 'other problems'. Just the same, because I'm a good scout, I'll be posting my statements in this thread to the original 'Prizes available- Ideas wanted' thread in case people would prefer to discuss it there.

So they probably already have their sixteen winners...

And if I were a pessimist like MrCelsius, I would probably congratulate those family members of employees of WotC....

But I won't... that would infer that employees did not want to spend their hard-earned money on WotC products....

and someone must be buying them. :P

Anyway, this is just them using an old entertainment-industry ploy - you'll note that just before a sequel to any movie comes out, they start playing the earlier ones in the series like crazy.

By giving out a copy of a novel who's sales have probably already peaked, they gaurantee more people will buy the next one. Its a cheap trick, and 16 copies is rather pathetic, but like I said, it's a step in the right direction.

Nope, not yet. Keep them coming! Again, if you have any problems accessing the form (or the knowledge base in general), post a message in the thread I linked to before. They should be able to help you get going.

And if I were a pessimist like MrCelsius, I would probably congratulate those family members of employees of WotC....

We all got copies when the book came out and Rich signed them for us (he's in the building), these are for YOU! We WANT you to have them.

-Again, everyone, stop spamming. I already laid out on the table what's okay to post here, and what's not okay to post here. 75% of the posts that are here right now are in the not okay category. I'll ask everyone, again, to stop. Worse comes to worse, I'll request that the thread be locked, and I don't think anyone wants that. Now get back on track. If you have a problem (as in technological, etc.) with something, post that. If what you want to say is unrelated to that, post it elsewhere.

I have a semi technical question/ issue, that lead to me not being able to enter. Granted I have the book already, and I'd wager with it being set at the first 16 it has long since become unimportant, But when I tried the first night I was prevented from getting there by questions.

This same thing happens when I log in to my account. There are three questions you have to set, and one other option I don't recall. These are apparently to help when account issues come up, and you have to speak with someone about it.

The short answer I'm sure I'll get it "Why not just fill them out and be done with it?" So, to avoid explaining that after, I'll simple set out that I have and it doesn't work. I'd filled in those answers a dozen times at least to no avail, and even then it doesn't redirect me. Now, when I say a dozen times, I mean prior to this contest I'd tried a dozen times, and still was left having to use a link to come back to the forums.

Anyway, like I said, not to worried about it as the winners already exist, and the rest of us would be wasting our time, but I thought I'd point it out simply because it is a mild annoyance to have it never go away.

I used to just skip that page, but recently it wouldn't let me do that anymore, so I had to fill it out.

And yes, I really am an alien from the planet Remulak. :P

Sorry, LK... I just couldn't resist.

And no, I wasn't joking - I could afford to give-away sixteen copies of a book, and I'm on disability, not a billion-dollar corporation.

Like I said, its a good start... ;)

Just kidding. :P

I really did get a response... and I won.

I'm, like, so friggin; happy. :D
I haven't won anything in years, and I did want to read this, so this is so Uber-cool of them.

Is there anyway I can get Rich to write "To my #1 fan MarkusTay"?

I sent them in when I last posted that I sent them in, just a few hours ago (you can check back through the tread to see that exact post and time).

Edit: I just checked - I did it just before 3:12 this afternoon, a mere 8 hours ago.

Perhaps it is because you accidently flooded them with answers, Krownhunter, that yours was over-looked? If so, then I'm sorry for you - that sucks.
