Booming Blade seems a little problematic to me. It does exactly what a defender power should do, punishing an enemy for moving away, but that 1d6+Con doesn't seem like it'd be much of a punishment once you're up in epic tier. The power's primary damage upgrades; shouldn't the secondary also increase?

Well, even if it would upgrade to 2d6+Con-mod, that wouldn't change that much. Still be somewhere between 10-15 damage, nothing to impress a epic critter with three to four digit hp count

Hey, I dunno, this is where the swordmage article dumped me when I hit the "discuss this article" button.

-It's still wrong, but don't worry about it. It's your second offense that I have the goon squad beat you down, so you're still good. ;)

Eeeexcellent. That will give me time to prepare the goon traps.

-I'd watch out, if I were you, traps or not.

-I recall someone saying that there was a seeming error with their HP. With that in mind, there can definitely be possible errors that slipped by in the powers.

One you are in epic you have all those nice encounter and daily powers to use so it will take several rounds until you actually come to use the blade power that it won´t be that important then.

I don't think you're looking at it in the right context.

Booming Blade punishes creatures who decide to ignore you. Take it with conjunction with Aegis of Assault and Two Handed Sword. You attack a target, and hit, dealing 2d6+X of damage and marking them. When that person moves away, you deal 1d6+Y of damage. When they attack the fleshy, you teleport next to them, and deal another 2d6+Z. So in total, this is at first level up to a 5d6+X+Z+Y attack. This isn't a bad power at all, and even epics will start to ponder taking, say, 6d6+15(or 18)+X+Y+Z (This is likely 17). I make a guesstimate of 56 points on average a round for ignoring me at level 24, roughly an eighth of your HP total for monsters at that level... not bad for just an at will power!

So in short, I don't think you have too much to worry about.

You can't attribute all this damage to the secondary BB effect. The effect itself stays at 1d6+X and there are many reasons why the enemy hit with BB might want to move away from you without triggering your aegis (which is also unconnected to BB, it's would be often more wise to mark one enemy with your aegis and use BB against a different enemy so that you nailed down two enemies instead of only one enemy)

Hey if it moves away from you and doesn't attack the party, then you are doing your job! :D

While I understand your point, it's not the Defender's job to stop everyone from getting by. They can't do that (Unless you are a crazy fighter). What they can do is make it harder. While I understand your tactic, and I think it's good use, I don't think that splitting the mark and Booming Blast apart is as effective an idea for the way I play my games.
