Those who read the first two books of "The Haunted Lands" trilogy and own the FRCG should know what I'm talking about.

Anybody has any hints, predictions, whatever how he could accomplish such a task like remaking the world and establishing himself as its most powerful god? With Mystra's death magic creates new (endless?) possibilities, but it still seems impossible to me. Besides, Ao probably wouldn't let achieve his aim.

Until February 2nd the mystery is still there.

Lord Karsus, you have tried to become a god. Therefore I consider you an expert in the field. ;)

-Yes, I am an expert in the field.

-As per the FRCG, we know that Tam fails in his primary objective, and renders Thay a very dead place in doing so.

Ao no longer seems to be a factor in the elevating of divinities. As it stands Tam just needs to ask Shar really nice if she'd let him ascend.:D As for how the ritual works, I would guess by the description of the failed results it involves the massive infusion of an individual with the energies drawn from the land/people of a defined territory controlled by the caster. I think that is why he moved forward to be the acknowledged ruler (the ritual required it). It would also explain why he needs to formally conquer new lands to try again as opposed to just teleporting into another land and casting the ritual again.

-Indeed, Incarnum (Soul) energy seems to be a "material component", yes, and this further couples Incarnum and deities, in the hypothesis that deities are simply Divine and Incarnum energies merged.

The ritual Kyuss used to ascend would be similar to the ritual Szass Tam is trying to perform. Kyuss was partially successful.

The problem I have with Tam... is that he wants more than godhood - he wants to remake the world. That's seem a bit impossible by any means. Kyus only ;) wants godhood.

The best way to obtain godhood is to have a divine patron 'backing' you. Without that, these mortal rituals are required, which almost never work, and when they do it's usually only partial, or has consequences that the person doesn't expect (didn't Kiaransalee destroy her own homeworld?)

And here I thought this thread was going to try and blame Tammy Thay for the greatest nautical disaster in Earth's history. ;)

-No, Karsus' Avatar works much better.

-Hey, it worked, in it's primary objective. Not all went according to plan afterwards, but the spell succeeded, regardless of whatever else happened.

Even if you managed to survive and retain godhood, who would have been left to worship you?

You destroyed your own civilization in the process. :P

Your Hubris makes Gold Elves look humble. ;)

-Having 'hubris' in my portfolio, I worship myself, which, in turn, perpetuates and strengthens me. It really was such an ingenious idea...It's like Gladiator, from the Shi'ar Royal Guard. His strength and power is dependent on his confidence, and his knowledge that he can do nearly anything.

Heh, off topic, but one of my favorite X-man comics was when Cannonball took on the Gladiator by himself, and won.

And one of the worst was when Gladiator 'punched' The Enterprise, and put a dent in it (which upset Captain Kirk no-end).

I kid you not.

lol, I used to have that one.

Kirk- "Is he talking? In space? How is that possible?"
Spock- "To put it simply captain, it is not".
