So I am finally getting around to writing my My Realms campaign, and after looking around for regions which have not been developed in LFR, I settled on Tethyr.

I was hoping one of the FR Loremasters can point me in the direction of some good material. I'm hoping there was a write-up in one of the 3rd edition books. But I'm not picky, 2e would be fine too (though a lot harder to find).

Also any Dragon write-ups or modules based on Tethyr or the surrounding area.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The Lands of Intrigue boxed set is amazing, I can't recommend it enough, particularly in conjunction with the Empires of the Shining Sea boxed set, both the work of the great Steven Schend.

Jenna Helland's 2009 novel The Fanged Crown has lots of stuff about contemporary Tethyr, particularly recent succession history. My own Sandstorm, out next month, opens in the Omlarandins of western Tethyr and then moves down the Ithal Pass to the Spires of Mir before the action moves to Calimshan.

Cheers,

Christopher

Thanks for both of your responses. I lucked out and was able to borrow my friend's Land of Intrigue boxed set (or what he still had of it). Not sure I really have the time to read a novel to prep (since I'm currently reading All the Devils Are Here: The Hidden History of the Financial Crisis. (Highly recommend
it but that might be the Accountant in me speaking).

When I get done with that I'll go back to reading some FR novels. I'll definitely keep an eye out for Sandstorm and track down the Fanged Crown for more info to seed my campaign for higher levels.

The Nobles series, book 2, "War in Tethyr" is either 2e or 3e and might provide some insight also.

I know Lands of Intrigue used to be available as a free .pdf download on wizard's FR site, though where those got off to I have no idea... probably still floating around there somewhere I'd imagine.

What's got the Shining Sea to do with Tethyr?

The Shining Sea boxed set covers Calimshan, which shares a border and a long history with Tethyr.

Yeah, lots of plot hooks and related history in Empires, not just for Tethyr, but for Amn as well.  Think those two were some of my favorite works for 2e, though the City of Splendors boxed set is hard to beat as my all time favorite.
