So, a handful of beholders manages to work together and form a human-army that manages to conquer a human-city in the north due to the north's ignorance of magic (in my game, the wizards of the south have more knowledge of magic than the wizards of the north, which are  not that powerful).  A king of a kingdom that lives in a vast palace was dethroned.  Shortly after that, a civil-war broke out between the beholders. Only one survived and now rules this city and kingdom with its army of devouted human-clerics.

There is the setting; anything thoughts?  I am thinking one the losing beholders escaped and is building an army to take what it is his.

My games, generally are,

Low-magic, low-monsters, low-treasure, high role-playing, high-plots.

Not really. There is one running a guild of thieves. A council of beholder would have been out of character for that species, but you delt with that with their civil war.

Besides, you're the DM. You can have a transvestite vegan troll be the ruler of a nation if you want.

I am not sure what the character's roles will be in this;  The eye-tyrant will have an organization of human-clerics running the city; it will dwell in a massive palace I am working on creating right now. It never leaves it letting the human-clerics do all the work.
