#1 reylan_talonspyre Jun 17, 2008 11:22:42	So, I was reading some of the threads, some of the spoilers, and some of the other stuff out there on the intraweb. I have looked it all over. So what happened to Mystra's Chosen. I see that it is rumored that Elminster survived, perhaps the Seven Sisters. Thoughts on this? I am sure Sylune probably survived, she is a ghost and couldn't get much more dead. But the reason I ask is I wanted something more elaborate than "Cyric snuck into Mystra's room and back stabbed her. BOOM! Dead goddess! Que Spellplague!" as my explaination. I decided that Cyric betrayed Mystra when the two were allied against someone or something. This was an elaborate plan created by Shar, who had wooed Cyric's assistance. Mystra was defended while weakened by her Chosen, who all were present at the place where this mini-war for Faerun took place. Instead of victory though, as we have come to expect from the Chosen, they lost, for Cyric also summoned his most powerful allies to his side. The battle was furious and Elminster was whisked away by Mystra at the last moment before her death, to protect him from the Spellplague by banishing him into the Far Realms. Elminster had to relearn magic there and because of his lack of understanding when it came to the new way magic worked, he was at a disadvantage. Though time is relative and after 100 years of relearning (or something nice and long for the old man), he came back to Faerun to do his thing, only to find that he was gone only for a decade. I would love to know if ANYTHING actually fits into the setting and what people know thus far about the Chosen and Elminster.
#2 phelf_der_zemit Jun 17, 2008 11:42:28	From what I've heard.. and It is by far not the most solid research, so don't quote me but.. I've read/was told that a number of Mystra's chosen were thrown into elimensters head and when he use's magic the "Voices" get worse. Hence his tendancy for seclution and whatnot for the next hundered years.. That's pretty foggy and a incorrect so I'd like some one to straighten it out for me.
#3 Stigger Jun 17, 2008 11:59:33	Sylune died in the Shadowdale adventure, Qilue probably just died in a novel, forget which offhand, Simbul supposedly just 'disappeared', whatever that means, and I don't recall anything else being mentioned about the rest beyond Rich Baker saying their fans probably weren't going to be happy with their fates. So... yeah. Kinda sucks, but its just another reason to avoid the 4e Realms for me, among many. But some folks are really pleased with the new setting, so more power to them if they enjoy it.
#4 reylan_talonspyre Jun 17, 2008 12:57:32	I am one of those "new players to FR" that WotC is talking about. I think taking away from FR makes it worse for new players. We don't even know what was lost. The best setting is one that incorporates and builds on the old while introducing new things from the new people to the world. Thank you everyone. If the gods are that toned down and whatever else I have been hearing/reading, I will just go with a home brew system.
#5 lord_karsus Jun 17, 2008 15:14:06	-Sylûne and Qilue, we know 100% that the two die before the Spellplague hits in 1385. The other Chosen of Mystra, we're just going to have to wait until the debut of the 4-Gotten Realms to find out.

#10 nefestous Jun 17, 2008 16:13:22	I was wandering if anyone had composed a running death toll on the 4ed forgotten realms from diety down to hero. A number of people are getting axed, and it would be nice to know who has been confirmed dead in these calamities.

Though as a side note, are you encouraging everyone to refer to you as The Master of the , or to be blinded by hubris? ;)
