So here's the deal: I want to build a new Organization for my realms, a hierarchal, clan-based society of Half-vamps and their full-blooded kin and all their minions...many factors are still undecided; can you help get my creativity going?

Anyone have ideas on ways to do this?

-Where should it be located
-What are its goals/motives
-Allies
-Enemies
-Organization Bonus/Rank System/Titles/Benefits
-Symbol
-Etc

Your thoughts?

Have you ever read the Hendees series of books?

In my campaign, I had an order of knights who were vampires called the Dhorgal Nath, which means the Dead Men. This order stepped in at Nesme and is basically running the show. The populace thinks that this knighthood is dedicated to the goddess Selune. As such, they only conduct business , ie running the city, at night. The residents accept this quirkiness as they saved the city and repel the giants and trolls. People still go missing every once in awhile, but Nesme is a dangerous place.

Perhaps you could use similair duplicity if your group is evil. If its good, the dhampirs could be staunch opponents of the undead. The location: perhaps a graveyard mausoleum in a undead area. They could be an order devoted to Kelemvor made up of fighters, rogues and rangers traveling the Realms in secret looking to destroy the living dead.

They are evil, and one of the clans in the Camarilla is associated with Asmodeus...though the duplicity motiff could work well; I had something like that in mind...Any idea for a place near Waterdeep to use as their main stronghold? They will of course have clans in other areas but I want them to have a central hub as well...

Thanks for your help MC

No, but it sounds familiar...whats the plotline?

No, but it sounds familiar...whats the plotline?

The first book is called Dhampir. The title character is a falchion wielding dhampir. Her partner is an elf rogue/assassin character. They start off getting money by faking at being undead hunters, but they get embroiled in some real undead hunting. I enjoy the books a lot myself.

And their dog is cool

Anyways; anymore ideas for the Camarilla?

I thought that was what he was trying to figure out

-I meant that like this: We come up with some awesome ideas about this organization. Because of his campaign/version of the Realms, none of it is relevant. His campaign is taking place in the Moonshae Islands. We place this organization in the Underdark underneath Kara-Tur. In his version of the Forgotten Realms, he has erased the area that we weave lore around this organization. Get what I mean?

That's getting a bit too messy for my campaigns.

Dhampirs and other half-undead dont count as undead but as living creatures then?

This is funny - and I think maybe we can work some stuff together here.

The well-loved WotC Boards NPC, Dood Onahorz (what was that final name we came up with again, LK?) has also survived into the 4e setting.

After spending much of his life a loner doing battle with Undead, he chanced upon a Shaaran girl-child that had been orphaned when her family was killed by a group of Wights operating within her tribal homeland. Her name was Toundo, and he raised her as his own, teaching her all of his Vampire (and Undead) hunting skills.

Because of her, he became more aceptable to help, and eventually put together a small team of Vampire-Humters that operated with funding from the Eternal Order, which had also been growing with help of Kelemvor's Clergy.

Just several days before the Spellplague struck, he and his team confronted a very large and powerful nest of Vamps operating in the Vilhon Reach... and his entire team was destroyed. He himself managed to get away after being sorely wounded with the help of the only other survivor - A priest of the new Order of Amaunator. After healing, he vowed revenge against the Vampire Lord that murdered his adopted daughter and friends, and went after them with the priest... only to be defeated a second time.

He managed to destroy most of the Vampires minions, but in the end the priest was killed and he himself was bitten. This was in the wee hours of the morning of the day the Spellplague struck.

Normally, he would have become a Vampire himself at the stroke of midnight... but when the wave of Cerulean energy washed over the land it changed everything in its path, including his curse.

He is now a Half-Vampire, and people call him the Sunrider... and he still fights the good fight, in the name of Amaunator, and searches still for the Vampire Lord that bit him all those years ago...

You can connect that to your Vampire House. I was planning on having a least three different 'Houses' of Vampire Lords, very loosely organized and allied with one another, but all with different objectives (Remain Hidden, take economic control of a region, and building an empire based on humans as cattle and slaves) - and of course, they work against each other much more then they cooperate.

The legend of Dûdon Ahorz lives on....

No, he was blessed by the Priest of Amaunator just before he died, and that lingering magic was still with him when the Spellplague washed over the land.

So he is in eternal pain, because he is 'half-dead', and unique (as far as he knows).

I also wanted to write-up the Eternal Order at some point - I remember reading about them in 3e, but I can only find the 2e source in the Kelemvor F&A entry.

I'm thinking it was a non-denominational religous organization backed by several gods who are against Undead, but primarily Kelemvor leading the pack.

If I recall, there wan even an evil god that helped them - I think it was Bane. I know Jergal would be for it, but I though there was another unlikely ally mentioned to go with Kelemvor's group of Undead Hunters...

I'm going for a James Woods in the movie Vampires feel here. A group that is sponsored by the church(es), but operates outside the church's control. Basically a covert group of operatives that "get the job done, NO questions asked".

I still want to keep some of the Lone Ranger feel of the character, but I'm moving away from him using a Flintlok and having a small (Drow?) repeating Crossbow with Silver-tipped Bolts instead. That would be as effective against Lycanthropes as Vamps (they would still have a wood shaft).

Yup... thats twice now he has lost a group to Undead.

Oh... his sidekick Toundo still assists him occasionally... as a Ghost. :D

Thats a bit weird, even for me.

And its a 'she' ghost.

I figure with Selune gone, we needed a new one around - she isn't around all the time though; she just does a cameo once in awhile when it's REALLY needed.

He has to take a special (nasty) concoction all the time, though, just to keep the pain of being 'Half-dead' bearable. (gives him a bit of a 'Blade' feel as well - he is, after all, an amalgam character).

Your thoughts?

pre or post spellplague?

What alignment ?

What kind of Half-Vamp? as in the one that Suck or the one that do not?

I'm gonna open my FRCS and I'm goint to pop us some ideas

You never wrong with Waterdeep or Sembia Amn Comyr and that kind of places

If it's evil (and the one that suck) their intensions might be to satisfied their cravings...
not just hunting teenage girl at night they would provide slaves
or if they have high positions they might be able to provide prisioners that no one's going to miss ...

I don't know I have to organize my thoughts about it....

located: Thay preplague, the woods berween That and aglarond, the high moor, a forest fortress in a forest of your choice. a Demi plane. various places with a massive magnificent mansion spell or multiple spells

Goals and Motives: alignment of group please, as not all undead or half undea dare evil, especially that Vampire who walks around with that gear that allows him not to eat and keeps him from becoming fatigued.
to be acepted

Allies: none, their undead.
Foes: Church of Lathander, Church of Kelemvor, Church of Osiris, Harpers Zhents, other Vampire, LArloch, everybody else:

Symbol: Crossed bloody DAggers in a Black coffinshaped background.

mind you though, you might do better with it has half vampires, they would be more socialable without the abduction to fead part since you can argue that some magic items can stend it off or negate it all together.

The three clans could be organized through thier halfvampire abilities...

One would be the blood dependant ones (these could be either the beautiful or monstrous dhampirs and provide mainly bloodthirsty muscle), the charm gaze ones (political shemers) and the children of the night ones (animal spy network)...

Hmm with some inspiration from the world of darkness one could name these clans... lets see... Brujah, Ventrue and Gangrell themes and turn it into sommat else... How about the Antitribu, the Camarilla and the Diluvians.. or the Bloodrebels, the Princes and the Ancients...

Full vamp has all the weaknesses, can be turned by anyone able to turn undead (provided they're high enough level) and are fully dead

half vamps get some of the bonuses normal vamps do, are NOT dead, and can fit into civilization much eaier...

WoD had something like 12 clans related through their bloodline who worked as a conservative bunch of vamps called the Camarilla. They had ranks within that with Justicars at the top and Princes ruling cities. Then you had a faction of more monstrous vamps the Antitributi who just revelled in bloodshed and vampirirc hunger. The ancients or antidiluvian vampires where the very first vampyres the sons of Cain (from the biblican pair of brothers Abel and Cain). But this is all very real world mddleage centric... You need to spin it off a bit.

Indepth view can be read here.

It comes down to that age determines your rank. All younger vamps must obey their elders. Simple really. But WoD mixes things up with different bloodlines each with ranks from Justicar (continental rulers of a clan with his personal anarchs) to a Prince (the local rulers) who is adviced by the eldest of all clans in the town, the Primogen.

Why don't you just copy-paste Vt:Masquerade/Dark Ages/Requiem (depending on preference) and use the find-and-replace function to alter some names and specific references as necessary? Since that's what you seem to be aiming for, anyway.
